The name Maun is derived from the San word 'maung', meaning the place of short reeds. It is the fifth largest town in Botswana with hip-hop streets and magnificent building. The temperatures are generally high because the city receives bright and sharp sunlight almost throughout the year.

Getting AroundMaun International Airport, serviced by Air Botswana has numerous direct flights from Johannesburg in South Africa, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Windhoek in Namibia. You can reach any of these places and then take a connecting flight to reach Maun. Maun does have buses but they are not frequent and crowded.
