About Kenya
Kenya is located astride the equator on Africa’s eastern coast. Kenya is surrounded by Ethiopia and Sudan on the north, Tanzania on the southwest and Uganda and Victoria Lake on the west. Kenya is famous for the geographical variety it has. The low located fertile coastal region bordered with islands and coral reefs and backed by a rising coastal plain which is a dry area spread over with thorn bush and savanna.
People of Kenya Kenya comprises of over 40 different ethnic groups. The main tribe groups are the Nilotic people, who originate from Sudan, Hamitic group which is from Somalia and Ethiopia and the Bantu who came from Western Africa. The chief tribes are Meru (5%), Kikuyu (21%), Luo (14%), Kalenjin, Kisii, Luyha, Kamba, Masai, Swahili, and Turkana etc. Languages English is the official language of the country and is wide spoken. Kiswahili is another language which is common over here.
