Blantyre is the economic capital of Malawi, located in the southern part of the country along the Shire River. The town was established as a Church of Scotland Mission Station in 1876 and is named after the famous explorer David Livingstone. Blantyre is the main commercial and industrial centre of Malawi. All the important trade and business is carried out from here.
