Climate & Geography
Albanian climate is Mediterranean. In the lowlands of Albania, summers are hot & dry while winters are wet and cool. In the highlands, snowfall can be enjoyed from November to March. During this period Hilly areas are found to be the coolest area. Albania has different climatic conditions in various parts of its area. The coastal lands have Mediterranean type weather, continental like climate prevails in highland and varied weather can be experienced in interior parts and lowlands.
The temperature in winter at the lowland’s of Albania remains around 7°C while in summer it hovers around 24°C but sometimes touches 30°C. In the southern lowlands, temperature remains higher than the lowlands of Albania throughout the year. Average summer temperature dips in the coastal areas and Albanian mountainous regions are also cooler. Days in the river valleys & interior basins are very hot, but the nights are cool. Heavy rainfall is experienced in the Albanian lowlands and it gets heavier in the Uplands.
