The name Wollongong is means "sound of the sea" in the local language. Being located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, it is located on a narrow coastal strip amidst Illawarra Escarpment and the Pacific Ocean and is also the third largest city in New South Wales after Sydney and Newcastle.
