Wollongong travel guide
The name Wollongong is means "sound of the sea" in the local language. Being located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, it is located on a narrow coastal strip amidst Illawarra Escarpment and the Pacific Ocean and is also the third largest city in New South Wales after Sydney and Newcastle. The place is an excellent destination to spend your holidays in a peaceful and relaxing manner. It is also home to numerous water sports and related activities, botanical gardens and picturesque locations. With two regional cathedrals and churches of various denominations, Wollongong also houses one of the well known Buddhist monasteries called Nan Tien Temple.
