It covers a surface of 39,255 hectares, and is placed between the bay and estuary of Reloncavi in a mountainous area going south of Chapo lake. Its main characteristic is a wooded landscape, Lake Sargazo and the Lenca River Valley. Among its aboriginal species may be counted larches, tineos, maios, cinnamon trees, ferns and lianas. Fauna is represented by the pudu, the guila, the gray fox, the chingue and the monito del monte. One of the interesting excursion trails is the 10 km long Sargazo Track, that goes to Sargazo and Fria Lakes in Las Chaicas sector, and the Chaiquenes and Triangulo lakes. The Park has 4 Guarderias placed in the Correntoso, Sargazo, Lake Chapo and Chaicas River Valley sectors. It has camping sectors and lodgings.
