Birla Mandir
The beautiful Birla Mandir is located on a small hill known as Naubat Parbat, which is situated in the midst of the town. In earlier times, here the drums or Naubat were played and the royal proclamations were read out. The Birla Mandir is completely constructed of White marble. From the hill, one can enjoy the beautiful view of the Golconda fort and the town below.

Mecca Masjid
The Mecca Masjid is located very near to the Charminar and is a very big mosque, which can accommodate more than 10,000 people. The huge colonnades and arches were shaped from single slabs of the granite, which were quarried 14kilometers away. On one side of Mecca Masjid are located the tombs of the famous Nizams of Hyderabad. The oldest mosque of Hyderabad i.e. the Jama Masjid is also located near by.

Salar Jung Museum
The Salar Jung Museum contains the rich & beautiful collection of a man named Nawab Salar Jung III. The museum is located near the river and houses some of the most ancient and rarest objects. In his times, Nizam of Hyderabad was reckoned amongst the richest men present in the world. There are around 35,000 objects of art, which includes clocks, paintings, jade, swords, miniature paintings, jewellery, statuary and Persian manuscripts. There are various priceless treasures like the turban of Tipu Sultan of Mysore, an ivory chair, the exquisite dagger of Nurjahan the Mughal empress and the dressing table of Marie /Antoinette. The museum displays various items that belong to the prehistoric times and also a pavilion, which comprises of the replicas of Ajanta Frescoes.

Secundrabad
In 1798, an area north of Hussain Sagar lake was made a cantonment as a result of an alliance signed between the Nizam and the East India Company for military and political co-operation. The cantonment was named Secunderabad after the then Nizam Sikander Jah. It is a few kms. away from Hyderabad.
This city has got a more contemporary look with a concentration of Anglo-Indians. It presents an attractive amalgam of old world charm together with the ebullience of growth and enterprise. Beautiful old edifices built in the medieval, Moghul, Colonial and Indo-Saracenic styles abound, rubbing shoulders with large glass and chrome temples of commerce.
The famous Mahankali Temple near the Secunderabad Railway Station draws a large number of devotees especially during the Bonalu festival.. Usman Sagar : About 20 kms away from the center of Hyderabad is the picturesque lake-Usman Sagar, popularly known as Gandipet. It is an excellent picnic spot with well-laid gardens. It is now the source of drinking water to the twin cities.
The lake is 29 sq kms in area and constitutes the major source of water supply to the city of Hyderabad. It is bordered by parks and grass on all sides and makes for a pleasant picnic spot. Popularly known as Gandipet, it is bordered by a landscaped park. The resort facilities offered close by make for a pleasant stay with family or friends.
Whether it is summer or winter, this is one place, which is crowded with streaming visitors. Mir Osman Ali Khan formed this water body as a result of damming of the river Musi in 1920.
It is the most sought after picnic spot for Hyderabadis. Gandipet beckons holidaymakers from every nook and corner of the twin cities. It is a pleasant sight to see a vast stretch of placid water that shimmers golden in the morning sun. The breeze is cool and soothing and the ambience serene. The lake offers boating facilities to the visitors. One can afford to spend a whole day with family and friends at this place.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism provides a guesthouse called Sagar Mahal, which was the summer resort of the erstwhile Nizam.
People also visit Gandipet after the rainy season when the reservoir is full. During this period swimming and boating are a common sight. TOP

Tank Bund located along the beautiful Hussainsagar Lake is the favorite promenade in the city of Hyderabad. The beautiful Hussain Sagar Lake divides the city of Hyderabad from Secunderabad its twin city, which was earlier a British cantonment and now a residential suburb.
