L’ Aquila is a small and pleasant city, surrounded with mountains and situated on the northern part of the province having the same name. The city is also the capital of that province. It is worth mentioning that the city has witnessed severe earthquakes that have changed the face of the entire place. German Emperor Corrado IV established L’Aquila in 1254. Later on, L’Aquila becomes the second city of the kingdom of Naples. Since then the city has gone through tremendous changes and has been ruled by various kings. The remains of their rules and diversity of their culture is still present in the contemporary L’Aquila.

Car and bus are the simplest way of reaching L’Aquila, which can be conveniently boarded from any of the terminus spread all over.

As L’Aquila has no airport so you can get down to Rome airport and reach L’Aquila by any of the available local transportation.

Although there are local buses, but it’s better to explore L’Aquila by walking because the place is small enough to be covered on foot only.
