Universal Children’s Day
Children’s Day is not just a way to express love for children, but also a day to honor and remember a leader who with his determined efforts has laid a foundation of converting this budding nation to a world power. Universally, this day is celebrated on 20th November, but in India, it is celebrated on 14th November, each year.
Teachings
This day was instituted as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday, with the chief intent to promote understanding among children and to bring about beneficiary action all over the globe for the welfare of children. Additionally, Children’s Day reminds us all to renew our commitment for children growth and wellbeing. It also teaches them to follow the path of Chacha Nehru and live by his dream and quality.
Ways of Celebration
Basically, Children’s Day is celebrated at the school level. Schools conduct various activities focusing on children involvement. As it is a day to engage in frolic and fun, children’s day is celebrated with pomp and show in schools. Children are highly enamored by this day for they are not required to wear uniforms and are given sweets. Various cultural programmes competitions such as fancy dress competition, elocutions, quizzes etc. are conducted for children. Special treats are provided to children in the form of movie and lunch.
