Fast Breaking

Id-ul-Fitr is popularly known as Ramazan Id. This special Muslim festival involves the breaking of fast that is held on first day of tenth month, Shawwaal. A general fast is observed during the precedent Ramzan month. During this time, people visit mosques, recite prayers and offer alms. They greet each other and visit their relatives and friends and share deliciously prepared dishes.

Nights of Power

At this time, people fast during the day and eats at night. The last ten nights of Ramzan are called as ‘the nights of power’ or Lailut-ul-Kadar. Moreover, prayer is imperative during the fasting season of Ramzan Id. And also every Muslim is expected to offer alms to poor and dress themselves in clean clothes before they attend the prayer. The Fitr or alms offered must be about two kilos and half of wheat or other grains, grapes or dates. After the alms distribution, people proceed to the house of Kazi, a religious Muslim official or some other pious man, dedicated to lead Ibadat. Subsequent to this, assembled people then conduct Kazi back to home.

Merry-Making

Last but not the least, people then spend rest of the day in feasting, going to fairs, relatives and friends.
