Delhi, the capital of India, is a 5000 year old city. It has a hoary past, a progressive present and a great future. This is Delhi, the stronghold of India. If there is the medieval monuments like the Red Fort, the Qutab Minar, the Jama Masjid, Purana Quila which speak of the Mughal era, there is the Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate which are the pride of present day India. The observatory of Jantar Mantar is a pointer to the astronomical pursuits of ancient India. It is one of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh, the king of Jaipur.

The newly built Akshardham Temple, Birla Temple, Chattarpur Temple. Delhi has one of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Masjid. It has two holiest places of worship of the Sikhs, Sis Ganj Gurdwara and Bangla Sahib which is located at Connaught Place.

In one hand, there are the narrow lanes and bustling markets of Old Delhi; on the other we see the well-planned roads and polished shopping malls of New Delhi. It has the rickshaw. Delhi has a condusive atmosphere for education too. Some of the renowned educational institutes like All India Institute of Medical Sciences, IIT-Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University etc. are located in this capital city.
