| About Konark Beach
|
The beach is 3 kms away from the temple along the Puri road. Glimpses of the local fishing fleet at work can be seen here. The sunrise at this beach is a feast for the eyes and an ideal spot for sun-bathing.
Situated about 32-km from Puri on Marine Drive, the sprawling beach at Konark is rated as one of the finest in the world. This nice and quiet beach is about 3-km from the temple. The currents can be strong here, so swimming can be dangerous.
With a long stretch of cleans sands and a lovely serenity of its own, this beach is considered as one of the best in the eastern coast.

| The Legend
|
Very near to this beach, lies the legendary pond where Krishna's son Samba is said to have been cured from leprosy. A festival "Magha Saptami Mela" is celebrated every year, during the full moon phase in the month of Magha. On this festival night, people bathe in this pond and watch the sun rising over sea the next morning.
