Constructed in 1839 under the direction of Lieutanant Sharp and designer Major Smith, this is the first church of Allahabad. It is a fine masterpiece, based on Gibb's example of St.Martin-in-fields, London with interesting tablets from the Gwalior campaign of 1843 and the 1857 mutiny. The church was holy by Bishop David Wilson, the fifth Bishop of Calcutta, on 19th February, 1841 and named the Holy Trinity Church.
