Muktsar the city of Gurdwaras is 50 Kms away from Bathinda is recognized as 'Guru Ki Daab'. The place is famous for the last battle fought by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, in which the group of 40 warriors helped Guru Ji and died who left them in Anandpur Sahib by writing 'Bedawa'.
Guru Ji tore 'Bedawa' at this place on their demand and blessed them with 'Mukti' (Mokush). So the place is called 'Mukatsar'. The famous 'Maghi' Mela is held on 'Magh Sakranti' (desi month) which go down in the month of January.
Bathinda Fort, which resembles a ship in a sea of sand, is situated in Bathinda District of Punjab. Built by Bhatti Reo, the fort is about 39 m high. Razia Sultana, the first woman ruler (1236 AD) of India, was imprisoned in this fort by some rebels.
The bricks of the fort dates back to Kushana period when emperor Kanishka ruled over India. The fort was captured by Maharaj Ala Singh of Patiala in 1754. The fort houses a gurdwara, built in memory of Guru Gobind Singh.
