About the City
Chandigarh draws its name from a garh or fort known as Chandigarh and from the Chandi Mandir Temple located in the close proximity of the site chosen for the city. Chandigarh was considered as the Punjab's capital instead of Lahore. But due to the second division of Punjab in the year of 1966, Chandigarh is now the capital of both Haryana and Punjab. However, Chandigarh doesn't belong to both the states; it is a union territory which is managed by the India's Government.
It is a city which belongs to the people who reside in it. People of Chandigarh love this place and are proud of the lifestyle it provides.
