Guntur is situated at a distance of 40 miles (64 km) to the west side of Bay of Bengal on the east coast of India. It is located at 16.20°N 80.27°E and is characterized by an average elevation of 33 m (108 ft). It slumps on the plains and there are also few hills sprawling in the nearby areas. The region houses some part of Krishna delta and there are also many small rivers and channels in Guntur such as Guntur Channel, Chandravanka, Naagileru, Guntur Branch Canal etc.
Guntur has a tropical climate and the average temperature is warm to hot all year round. The months May/June experience highest temperature and the later months are followed by some rains. Winters start in the month October and last till February. The city also witnesses rainy season, which is expounded by rain storms and hurricanes. July is the wettest month in the region.
