About Latur

With rich history snug in its soil, Latur is a historical township in Marathwada region of Maharashtra. The historical roots of Latur have connections with the wealthy dynasties like the Rashtrakutas, Satvahanas, Chalukyas and Mughals that ruled over the land of Latur in bygone times. Gradually, the city has developed and transformed into a tourist hub over the years.


Latur rests on the Balaghta plateau and has a height of 1,690 feet above sea level. The Godavri River is major source of water in the vicinity of Latur. The climate of Latur is semi arid with average summer temperature of 35°C amid season and 16° C throughout winters. An adequate amount of rainfall, 720 mm on an average, is received by Latur during the monsoons.
