Owing to the presence of Palakkad Gap in the Western Ghats, Palakkad is also called gateway to the state of Kerala. The town is also bestowed with many rivers, both small and medium. These rivers in the city are also tributaries of the Bharathapuzha River. The city hosts a wet and dry climate, and the temperature in the city is usually high all year round. March and April are the hottest months of the year.
