The city of Patna is situated in Bihar on the southern banks of River Ganga. The presence of alluvial soil makes the land very fertile here. Patna is the largest riverine city in the world with Ghaghara, Gandak, Punpun and Sone rivers also passing in its vicinity. The land is elevated up to 53 m.
