| About Port Blair: | Port Blair is the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Union Territory of India. It serves as a center point for visiting the group of 321islands. Earlier, Port Blair was used by the Britishers as the penal colony, commonly known as the Kala Pani (Black waters). It was so called due to the brutal punishment inflicted by the Britishers on the Indian patriots. These people were deported here so as to serve their life sentences. The historical past of the place can be witnessed at the Cellular Jail, which is declared by the government as a national monument.
