About Telangana

Resting in the southern hemisphere of India, Telangana is one of the 29 states in the country. It was formed on 2nd June 2014 and is regarded as the ‘youngest state in India’. It spans an entire area of 112,077 sq. km. and serves as a home to a sizable population. It is also known as the 12th largest and the 12th most populated state in India. Telugu, English, and Hindi are commonly used languages in Telangana.


History

According to the ancient history, the present-day land of Telangana (Hyderabad at that time) was ruled by various royal clans like the Satvahana, Kakatiya, Musunuri Nayak, Qutb Shahi, Delhi Sultanate, Mughal, and Asaf Jahi. Among the above-listed dynasties, Satvahana and Kakatiya were the most dominant. During their reign, Telangana witnessed a golden period. Numerous monuments like the temples, forts, palaces, mosques etc. were constructed. As the times advanced, the ruling dynasties changed and the soil of Hyderabad slowly came under the rule of the British. In 1799, it became a princely state.

After India gained independence, the Nizam of Hyderabad wasn't ready to merge the state in the Indian Union, However, it was annexed after conducting the 'Operation Polo'.

The demand of a separate state Telangana rose between 1946 to1951. It was supported by the Communists and gradually, increased with the time. After a prolonged period of time, Telangana was formed officially on 2nd June 2014. K. Chandrashekhar Rao was elected as the first CM of the state. The city of Hyderabad became the new capital of Telangana.

Geography & Temperatures

Telangana is located on the Deccan Plateau and is drained by the rivers Krishna and Godavari. The terrains of the state are semi-fertile and are suitable for growing the rabi & kharif crops. The climate of this state is classified as hot & dry in nature. During summers, the average temperature scales between 27°C-40°C. The average temperatures during winters remain between 15°C-25°C. Telangana receives an ample amount of rainfall with an annual average of 750 mm.

The places that attract the visitors most are Eturunagaram Wildlife Sanctuary, Kawal Tiger Reserve, Pranahita Wildlife Sanctuary, Manjira Sanctuary and other places. One can also pay a visit to the places like Charminar, Golconda Fort, Warangal Fort, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Yadagirigutta, Bhadrachalam Temple, Adilabad, Hyderabad, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, and so on.
