Garissa is a city in North Eastern Province, Kenya. It is the capital of the province and Garissa District. It lies on the Tana River and is popular as the geographical 'gateway' to the North Eastern province. The city has a lot in store for the people and can never let you get bored. Climate and Geography
Garissa has a very hot climate. The days have extremely high temperature but nights are mild and pleasant.
Garissa is small town which can be explored on foot. But still the taxis are easily available and quite cheap also. The roads aren't smooth and have got numerous potholes that it becomes impassable. Cycling is a good option to move around inside the city. It is inexpensive as well as perfect way to experience the beauty of the city.

You can buy traditional Somali curio items such as dhiil, ameel and an array of calabashes, as there are not many hopping complexes here. Local handicrafts and souvenirs are the only thing you can shop for.
