Due to its vicinity to the tropic of Capricorn, the climate of Mauritius is tropical. The period between November and April is warm and humid and the period between June and September is cool and dry. However, there is only about 4 degrees of difference between the temperatures of the two seasons. Most of the rains occur in the summer season and there is no definite rainy season.
The island of Mauritius was formed due to volcanic activity. The island is surrounded by a broken ring of mountain ranges. However, no active volcanoes are present in Mauritius.
