Climate & Geography

The Kalahari Desert and the Namib deserts cover Namibia from all the sides. There is thus very less rainfall in Namibia. There is sunshine for more than 300 days every year. The period between June and August is the winter season, the one between September and November is the small rainy season and the period between February and April sees the larger share of rainfall. Namibia has low humidity and the rainfall varies from almost zero to 600 mm.

Namibia is situated between latitudes 17 degrees and 29 degrees S and longitudes 11 degrees and 26 degrees E. Namibia is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the west, Angola and Zambia to the north, South Africa to the south and east and Botswana to the east. Namibia is divided into the five geographical areas of Central Plateau, the Namib Desert, the Great Escarpment, the Bushveld and the Kalahari Desert.

Territory & Capital : The territory of Namibia is semiarid. The two deserts called the Namib Desert and the Kalahari Desert cover major parts of the Namibian Territory. Windhoek is the largest city and the capital of Namibia. Windhoek is the economic, social and cultural center of the country.

Suitable Visiting Seasons : The period between April and October is the best time to visit Namibia. However, most of the regions of Namibia can be visited throughout the year.
