Situated on a hilltop watching over Phewa Lake is the World Peace Pagoda also known as Peace Temple and Shanti Stupa. This white stupa was constructed by Buddhist monks from the Japanese Nipponzan Myohoji organization as a symbol of peace. Opened in 1999, it is Nepal’s first World Peace Pagoda.

The core of tourism in Pokhara, Phewa Lake is the second largest freshwater lake in Nepal.
