Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : BY AIR - ARRIVE DELHI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

    Arrive Delhi International Airport. Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer to your hotel in Delhi

    Perhaps there is no other capital city in the world so steeped in history and legend as the Indian capital Delhi. It was the magnet, which drew the Mongols, Turks, Persians, Afghans, Mughals and the British, all of whom contributed to its glorious but turbulent past. The fascination with Delhi was such that even though it was abandoned many times, its rulers returned to it again and again rebuilding it at least seven times. Today, the twin cities of Old and New Delhi still intrigue Indians and tourists alike as the cultural and political capital of the largest democracy in the world.
    Overnight in Delhi.

  • Day 2 : IN DELHI

    After breakfast proceed for full day city tour of Old and New Delhi

    New Delhi:- Is built in a typically British colonial style with tree-lined avenues and colonial bungalows. See the Laxminarayan Temple, a modern Hindu temple, and India Gate, the 42 m high War Memorial Arch. Drive past the Parliament House, the Secretariat buildings and the Vice Regal Palace, now the official residence of the President of India. You will also visit Qutab Minar – what was intended to be the most glorious tower of victory in the world and was to be the prototype of all minars in India.

    Old Delhi :- Visit the 17th century Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. See Chandni Chowk, the shopping center of old Delhi and drive past the Red Fort for a photo stop. Visit Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.

  • Day 3 : BY AIR - DELHI / PATNA (9W 2287 – 1145 / 1315 Hrs) ONWARD DRIVE TO BODHGAYA

    On time transfer to airport to board flight for Patna.Meeting and assistance upon arrival and drive to Bodhgaya. Upon arrival check in at hotel in Bodhgaya.

    The quiet village of Bodhgaya near river Niranjana, 16 km from Gaya, is one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage centres in the world. It was here that Buddha attained Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree, the saplings of which can still be seen on the temple premises. Most countries with a large Buddhist population have a temple or monastery here.

  • Day 4 : IN BODHGAYA

    After breakfast proceed for city tour of Bodhgaya visiting the Mahabodhi Temple, with its 54m high pyramidal spire and large gilded image of the Enlightened Buddha. See the Bodhi Tree at whose foot is a sandstone slab (Vajrasila) marking the spot where Buddha sat in meditation. Also see the monasteries, the archaeological museum and the great 25-meter Buddha statue

    Overnight in Bodhgaya.

  • Day 5 : BY ROAD - BODHGAYA / VARANASI

    After breakfast drive to Varanasi. Upon arrival check in at hotel in Varanasi.

    Varanasi, the city of Shiva on the banks of the Ganges, is one of Hinduism’s seven holiest cities. With its temples, over a hundred ghats and labyrinth of streets, the city cannot be described, only experienced. Also called Benares or Kashi, Varanasi is the oldest living city in India, and one of the world’s most ancient. Hindu devotional movements flourished here, and it is still the chief centre of Sanskrit learning in North India. It is also famous for silk weaving and ornamental brass-work.

  • Day 6 : IN VARANASI

    Take an early morning boat ride on the river Ganges to see the bathing ghats and cremation sites. You can see pilgrims bathing and performing rituals on the Ghats, one of the most extraordinary experiences of a visit to India. Sunrise on the riverfront, as seen from a boat, can be a spiritually uplifting sight. Later see the Viswanath temple (also called Golden Temple due to its gold plated towers) dedicated to Shiva. Non-Hindus not allowed inside

    After boat ride return to hotel for breakfast. Afternoon proceed for half day city tour of Varanasi visiting Bharat Mata temple with its big marble relief map of India, the Durga temple and the modern marble Tulsi Manas temple whose walls are engraved with scenes and verses from the Ramcharitmanas, the Hindi version of the Ramayana. Also see the New Viswanath temple, one of the tallest in India (non Hindus are not allowed inside the temple). Go around the Benares Hindu University and its museum, and see the mosque of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

    Later in the evening proceed for excursion to Sarnath : Dominated by the Dhamekh Stupa supposedly marking the point where Buddha delivered his sermon. See the ruins of the monasteries and the remains of the Ashoka Pillar which once stood over 20m high. Also visit the Sarnath Museum displaying finds from the site, including the famous lion capital from the Ashoka Pillar.

  • Day 7 : BY ROAD - VARANASI / KUSHINAGAR

    After breakfast drive to Kushinagar. Upon arrival check in at hotel in Kushinagar

    Kushinagar, 50 km east of Gorakhpur, is celebrated as the place where the Buddha died and was cremated. Originally called Kushinara, it is one of the four major Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Buddhist monasteries flourished here till the 13th century. Sights include the Rambahar stupa built to house Buddha’s relics after cremation, the Mahaparinirvana temple with its reclining Buddha figure, the modern Indo Japan Sri Lanka Buddhist centre and numerous monasteries.

    Overnight in Kushinagar

  • Day 8 : BY ROAD - KUSHINAGAR / LUMBINI / SARAVASTI

    After breakfast drive to Saravasti enroute visiting Lumbini (In Nepal) - The birthplace of the Gautama Buddha, known as Tathagatha - one who has found the truth, Lumbini, is the Mecca of every Buddhist, being one of the four holy places of Buddhism. It is said in the Parinibbana Sutta that Buddha himself identified four places of future pilgrimage: the sites of his birth, enlightenment, first discourse, and death. All of these events happened outside in nature under trees. While there is not any particular significance in this, other than it perhaps explains why Buddhists have always respected the environment and natural law.

    After visit continue your drive to Saravasti. Upon arrival check in at hotel in Saravasti

  • Day 9 : BY ROAD - SARAVASTI / LUCKNOW

    After breakfast proceed for city tour of Saravasti (Sahet-Mahet), capital of the ancient Kingdom of Kosala, an active centre for Buddhism.

    After tour continue your drive to Lucknow. Upon arrival check in at hotel in Lucknow

    The capital of Uttar Pradesh rose to prominence as the centre of the Nawabs of Avadh. These decadent Muslim rulers, also known as the nawabs of Oudh controlled a region of north-central India for about a century. Most of the Avadh rulers were hopeless at running the affairs of state. However, they were great patrons of the arts, especially dance and music and Lucknow’s reputation as a city of culture and gracious living stems from this time.

    Afternoon proceed for half day city tour of Lucknow visiting the great Imambara – built in the 18th century. The absence of beams and pillars in the huge main hall is an architectural achievement.   • Day 10 : BY AIR - LUCKNOW / DELHI (IT 3654 – 0900 / 1005 Hrs)
