Rishikesh, also known as the 'place of sages' is Haridwar, at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga. It is believed that God by the name of 'Hrishikesh' had appeared as an answer to the hard penances by Rabhiya Rishi and henceforth the place derived its name. Haridwar is also famous by the names of Gangadwar, Mokshadwar, Tapovan and Mayapuri. It is at Haridwar that the Ganga finally emerges into the northern plains.


Day Wise Breakup

Day 1 - Delhi - Rishikesh

This morning you will be driven to Rishikesh, situated on the banks of the Ganges. The afternoon is free to explore the city on your own.

Rishikesh, also known as the \'place of sages\' is at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga. It is believed that God by the name of \'Hrishikesh\' had appeared as an answer to the hard penances by Rabhiya Rishi and henceforth the place derived its name.

It is the starting point for the Char Dham pilgrims but also for the people who are interested in meditation, yoga and other aspects of Hinduism. For the adventure seekers, rishikesh is the suggested place for starting their trekking expeditions to the Himalayan peaks and for rafting. Also, International Yoga Week which attracts participation form across the world, is held here every year in February on the banks of the Ganga.

Day 2 - Rishikesh-Haridwar

Among the many pilgrimages that dot the length of the Ganga, Haridwar ranks among the most holy in the land. According to Hindu mythology Haridwar was known as Kapilsthan.

Legend has it that the ancestors of Raja Bhagirath, were consumed by fire at this spot following a cused of rishi Kapil. For their salvation Raja Bhagirath requested the ganga to descend on Earth.

Haridwar is also famous by the names of gangadwar, Mokshadwar, Tapovan and Mayapuri. It is at Haridwar that the Ganga finally emerges into the northern plains.

The Kumbh and the Ardh Kumbh melas also take place here every 12 th & 6th year.

Day 3 - Haridwar-Delhi

This morning you will be driven back to Delhi.

DELHI, the capital of kingdoms and empires is now a sprawling metropolis with a fascinating blend of the past and the present. It is a perfect introduction to the composite culture of an ancient land. A window to the kaleidoscope - that is India.

DELHI - free to explore city and last minute shopping. Check out in the evening and proceed for the Dances of India Show. Have dinner then transfer to Airport for flight home.
