Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival in Delhi

  Our representative will meet you at a location convenient to you in Delhi and transfer you in an air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel of stay. Check-in at your pre-booked hotel.
  
  In the afternoon, you will be taken on a half-day combined city tour of Old and New Delhi, accompanied by an English-speaking guide. Proceed to the historical sites of the city such as Qutab Minar, India Gate (War Memorial), a drive past Rashtrapati Bhawan (President's Estate), Parliament House and Secretariat building. Further on, proceed to Jama Masjid, and drive past Red Fort and Chandni Chowk - a traditional shopping hub. After sightseeing in the city, return to your hotel and spend the night. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 2 : Delhi - Leh

  In the morning take one of the most spectacular flights in the world, from Delhi over the Himalayas. If you sit on the left side of the plane, you can even see K2! Arrive around lunchtime and check in to your Guest House. Afternoon free to relax, acclimatise and perhaps take a wander around town before supper. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 3 : In Leh

  Today is a day of relaxation, sightseeing and acclimatisation. The morning, you can visit the spectacular monasteries of Tikse, Moatho and Shey, the ancient capital on the Indus with its giant golden Buddha. Here you will find beautiful palaces, temples and restored murals. In the afternoon relax.

• Day 4 : Leh - Nubra Valley

  Only recently opened up to tourists, the Nubra Valley, lying high on the Tibetan Plateau, is like stepping back in time. Today, you can drive the highest road in the world and over the Khardung La (5600m) before descending into the valley and have the afternoon free to explore the region. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 5 : In Nubra Valley

  Today you might like to take a walk in the stunning countryside, passing through villages to see how the Nubra people live, enjoying the magnificent culture and scenery before heading back to the campsite. You can visit the nearby Nubra dunes and see the local Bactrian camels where you may even get the opportunity to ride one. In the evening a local meal will be served. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 6 : Nubra Valley - Leh

  Today you can return to Leh and watch further festivities of the Ladakh Festival. Once again staying at the guesthouse, you might like to eat at a local restaurant. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 7 : Leh - Yangtang

  After a morning drive of 47 Kms to Likir, you can begin your trek. After some tea, you will meet the pack ponies and staff before setting off on a 5hr walk over the shallow Phobe La Pass. After a brief rest you continue to a small village where you can have a packed lunch in a beautiful orchard next to a water channel and river. After lunch, you cross the 3700m Charatse Pass and walk down into Yangtang to camp by the river. Camping facilities on this section will be excellent with large two-man tents, wash and toilet tent, mess tent for dining, tasty three course meals and morning tea. After arriving, those brave enough can have a swim - or plunge to be more accurate - in the river! Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 8 : Yangtang - Hemis Shukpachan

  Trek via Rizong, to Hemis Shukpachan. An easy 2 hrs stroll down along the river, through villages and a spectacular gorge to what is arguably one of the most charming (quite isolated, and relatively un-renovated) monasteries in the Leh Valley. After this walk over the 4000m Sermanchan La through some of the region's most extraordinary landscapes, have lunch on top of the pass and walk down through the village of Hemis Shukpachan with its famous Juniper pines, to your camp. The walk today takes between 7 and 8 hours. (There is an alternative route if you wish to take things a little easier, which is a 2-hour walk.) Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 9 : Hemis Shukpachan - Timisgam

  Today will be a 5 or 6 hour walk over two more passes, one of which you will barely notice, the second of which is more challenging. Once over that, you head down into what is generally regarded, because of its excellent agriculture, as the richest valley in Ladakh. You can have a picnic lunch in a lovely shaded glade by the river before continuing to the bottom of the village and on to your campsite in an orchard. At this time of year the trees will be blossoming full of apricots. The afternoon is free to wander through this beautiful village, or visit the cliff-top monastery fort before taking a swim in the river. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 10 : Timisgam - Leh

  If you would like, you can take a morning walk through Timisgam, over the famous Bong Bong La and on to Kalse and the end of the trek. Arriving in the village late morning where the jeeps will be waiting to take you on yet another stunning mountain road to Alchi Monastery. Alchi is another beautiful village and the extraordinary paintings in the monastery are considered one of the great art treasures of the Buddhist world and a rare example of Indian Buddhist art from the 11th century. After having lunch at the monastery, drive back to Leh, arriving late afternoon. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 11 : Leh - Delhi

  After breakfast, you will be dropped at Leh domestic airport to board the flight for Delhi. On arrival at Delhi transfer to international airport or any location convenient to you in Delhi for your onward journey.
