Itanagar is located at 27.1°N 93.62°E in Arunachal Pradesh in East India. The city is placed in the foothills of Himalayas at an elevation of 750 metres. The climate of Itanagar is oceanic with dry and cold winters and summers are cool and wet. The monsoon showers are heavy in this region. Itanagar can be reached by air with the nearest airport situated at Lilabari, Assam, 67km away from the city. Pawan Hans helicopter services can also be utilized from Guwahati, thrice a week. NH 52A connects Itanagar to Assam and other parts of India. Bus or taxi services can be availed from Guwahati to reach here. Itanagar got its own railway station in 2014.
