The people here never slaughter animals, even as scarifies to the gods. Tsum valley trek is famous for sightseeing, pilgrimage and trekking in Nepal. You can visit Pirren Phu, Rachen Nunnery, Mu Monbastery, Gompa Lungdang Nunnery and village Cumling, Chhule, Chhekamparo and Nyile. The tsum valley is dotted with gompas (Buddhist Monasteries), Chortens and maniwalls. The Tsum valley trekking trail is head up the Valley of Budi Gandaki River through wild and unexplored. Since it has not been visited by many travelers there are very few established tea houses, hotels or stores along the trials. Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Kathmandu to Arughat Bazaar

    Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazaar (570m.)
    this will take about six and half hours. You drive along the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway for the first part of the day and then branch out as you drive towards Arughat Bazaar. This is a cool scenic drive. Stay overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 2 : Start Trekking

    Start Trekking from Arughat Bazaar passing through Soti Khola (730m.) to Soti Khola or Liding (800m)six hours. You trek over a flat leveled path along the bank of Budhi Gandaki River through mostly terraces, numerous villages, green hills, some pretty waterfalls and lush green forest. To reach Liding, the trail fluctuates uphill and downhill through forest of Sal, Chilaune and other local vegetation. Liding is a village that lies on the banks of the Budhi Gandaki. Stay overnight in camp or a very simple teahouse.

  • Day 3 : Trek from Liding

    Trek from Liding thru Machha (fish) Khola to Khorlabeshi (930m.)
    we reckon this takes about six hours. The meandering path passes through forest, villages, streams, pretty waterfalls and green valleys until you reach Lapu Besi. This is a village mainly occupied by Mongolian inhabitants. Now you again traverse the zigzag path to reach Machha Khola and on to Khorlabeshi. There is a small market hereabouts with a few shops and lodges. Stay overnight in a camp or simple teahouse.

  • Day 4 : Trek from Khorlabeshi

    Trek from Khorlabeshi to Jagat (1440m.) which takes about six hours.
    You cross the Machha Khola [Fish Stream] and head upstream to the tiny village of Khola Bensi and the hot springs at Tatopani. The trail is quite exposed and challenging in places. After a short section of forest path you reach the single teahouse at Doban. At Lauri, you cross the river on a suspension bridge, and then climb on a high path to the fields of Jagat, where you camp. Stay overnight in camp or lodge.

  • Day 5 : Trek from Jagat

    Trek from Jagat to Lokpa(2240m.) and this takes about six/seven hours.
    The early part of trek moves gently uphill and then follows a flat leveled path. You cross a suspension bridge over Budhi Gandaki before you enter Philim. Philim is a big village mainly inhabited by the Gurungs. From Philim you climb a gradual up hill stopping for lunch at Ekle Bhatti. Lokpa is the first village as you enter the Tsum valley. Stay overnight in camp or in a lodge.

  • Day 6 : Trek from Lokpa

    Trek from Lokpa to Chumling (2600m.) this takes 4 hours hours.
    You take an ascending route to reach Chumling stopping for lunch along the way. Chumling is located on the south face of the Shingri Himal. This day you enjoy a pleasant visit to the Gombas of Chumling. This day is challenging as it is an ascending path that stretches on almost the entire route. Stay overnight at a camp or in a lodge.

  • Day 7 : Trek from Chumling Chhokangparo

    Trek from Chumling Chhokangparo (3010m.) to Rachen Bompa (3300m)takes five /Six hours.
    This is a tough and long day of walking but the scenic views of the valley amply compensates for the long walk. Chhokangparo is situated on a flat land and consists of 2 settlements, Chhokang and Paro. From here you can get superb views of the Ganesh Himal range. Some households practice polyandry down here. This area is prominent for its Tibetan Buddhist heritage. Stay overnight in camp or at the guest hosue of Rachen Gumpa.

  • Day 8 : Trek from Rachen

    Trek from Rachen Bompa through Nile (3361m.) to Mu Gompa (3700m) which takes five hours. Nile is the last village heading north in the upper Tsum valley. This village is situated on the banks of the Shiar Khola and it consists of large number of households. Mu Gompa is home to a very old monastery and there are no village establishments here. It is located at the highest and farthest point in the Tsum valley. This trail is used to import and export things to and from Tibet. You may come across several yak trains supplying goods to local villages. Stay overnight in camp or at the guest house of Mu Gumpa.

  • Day 9 : Day for rest

    This is a day for rest day in Mu Gompa.
    Today we can take excursions to the many snow covered peaks in the area for the most spectacular views of this trek. Take a Half day walk to the Nunnery and to a small pond a big further up to Nunnery. Or day a full day trek to Vajyo with your packed lunch as there are no places to buy our lunch. Stay overnight in camp or At the guest house of Mu. Gumpa.

  • Day 10 : Trek from Mu Gumpa

    Trek from Mu Gumpa to Rainjam (2600m.) via Chhule (3347m) which takes 6-7 hours
    On an entirely descending path. This day you can enjoy glimpses of the Punchen Himal that is unique in shape. This day you continue your descent by retracing the path from your ascent . Stay overnight in camp or at Guest house.

  • Day 11 : Trek from Rainjam to Gomba

    Trek from Rainjam to Gomba Lungdang (3200m.) which takes 4 hours on an ascending path.
    On the way you can enjoy views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. Gomba Lungdang is home to a beautiful and large monastery that houses monks (all females). Men are not permitted in some areas of this monastery., the most spectacular sunrise through Ganesh Himal range is a magic moment. Stay overnight in camp or at Gumpa.

  • Day 12 : Trek from Gumba Lungdang

    Trek from Gumba Lungdang thru Rainjam to Ripchet which takes 6 hours.
    After Breakfast at Gumpa, we take downhill keep our unforgettable and very close views of Ganesh Himal range to Rainjam and then gradual up and down hill to Ripchet, Ripchet is a big village where there are about 70 familiesa living, its one of the most laid back village in this region, You can find very simple home stays or shall make our tented camp. Over night at Ripchet.

  • Day 13 : RIpchet to Philim via Lokpa

    RIpchet to Philim via Lokpa (1700m.) which takes 6 and half hours.
    As you follow the descending route you will pass by fairly dense pine forest where many species of birds inhabit the forest. May see some Mosk dears on the other side of the river on sunny days. Philim offers you excellent landscape and the village itself is live and some nice lodges to Stay or in Camp side.

  • Day 14 : Trek from Philim to Khorlabeshi

    Trek from Philim to Khorlabeshi (930m.) which takes 6 hours
    On a completely descending path. You leave the cultivated region around Philim as you descend along the path that follows the banks of the Budhi Gandaki River. At Tatopani ( Natural Hot spring) you can relax in the warm and revitalize waters of the hot spring. Stay overnight in camp in Khorlabeshi.

  • Day 15 : Trek from Khorlabeshi to Soti Khola

    Trek from Khorlabeshi to Soti Khola (730m.) and this takes 6 hours.
    Today you pass through some mice villages as you observe the villagers absorbed in their daily chores. You can enjoy the pristine beauty of the waterfalls on both sides of the river. Khorlabesi is a split point to take another trail to Gorkha if you like. Stay overnight in camp or guest house.

  • Day 16 : Trek from Soti Khola to Arughat

    Trek from Soti Khola to Arughat (570m.) which takes 5 hours.
    You cross over the bridges and cultivated areas and villages before you finally reach Arughat from where it started. Stay overnight in camp or small lodge.

  • Day 17 : Drive from Arughat Bazaar to Kathmandu

    Drive from Arughat Bazaar to Kathmandu which takes 67and half hours.
    This is a picturesque journey. While driving, you head up to Dhading Besi and Malekhu which is famous for delicious fish. En route, you can enjoy the mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people engaged happily in their daily life activities. From Naubishe you climb up to Thankot, the gateway to the capital city of Kathmandu, concludes the Tsum Valley trek.
