Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival and Local sightseeing in Aurangabad:

On arrival in the beautiful city on Aurangabad, transfer to the hotel. Freshen up. Spend your afternoon at leisure in your hotel. By the evening, around 4 pm start your city sightseeing drive. Some of the attractions are described below:

Bibi Ka Maqbara is the tomb of Begum Rabia Durani, wife of Emperor Aurangzeb. The arched alcove surmounted by a swelling dome, exhibit the excellence of Persian architecture. The layout and surrounding of the tomb is very much similar to that of Taj but some how the architecture fails to produce the magic of Taj. Panchakki, also reputed as the shrine of a saint, Baba Shah Musafir, Panchakki (Water Wheel) is considered a marvel of engineering. Driven by water brought through earthen pipes from the river 6km away, the mill once ground grain for pilgrims. Aurangabad Caves : Aurangabad has its own group of caves 2 km north of the Bibi-ka- Maqbara. They were carved out of the hillside around the 6th or 7th century AD. The 10 caves are all Buddhist; caves 1 to 5 are in the western group and caves 6 to 10 are 1 km away in the eastern group.

Evening free or at leisure, you can have a drive to Mall or City shopping area. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 2 : Excursion To Ajanta Caves (109 kms one way / approx 3 hours):

Post breakfast proceed to Ajanta Caves. It is world's greatest historical monument recognized by UNESCO.. There are 30 caves in Ajanta of which 9, 10, 19, 26 and 29 are chaitya-grihas and the rest are monasteries. These caves were discovered in AD 1819 and were built up in the earlier 2nd century BC-AD. Most of the paintings in Ajanta are right from 2nd century BC-AD and some of them about the fifth century AD and continued for the next two centuries. All paintings shows heavy religious influence and centre around Buddha, Bodhisattvas, incidents from the life of Buddha and the Jatakas. The paintings are executed on a ground of mudplaster in the tempera technique. The first Buddhist cave monuments at Ajanta date from the 2nd and 1st centuries B.C. During the Gupta period (5th and 6th centuries A.D.), many more richly decorated caves were added to the original group. The paintings and sculptures of Ajanta, considered masterpieces of Buddhist religious art, have had a considerable artistic influence.

: Further to the parking, you will have to travel in pollution free vehicles (on your own), which are available from ‘’ T ’’ point at a distance of 10 km from the caves. After Caves visit- return journey to Aurangabad. Evening at leisure. Optional visit Himroo shawls & Paithani Sari centre. Overnight stay

  • Day 3 : Excursion To Ellora – Ghrishneshwar – Khuldabad - Daulatabad (31kms one way / appprox 50 mins dr

On arrival in the heritage city of Aurangabad, we transfer you to the hotel. After some leisure time spent at your hotel, proceed to Ghrishneshwar which is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The temple stands as an illustration of the pre-historic temple traditions as well as of the pre-historic architectural style and structure. The inscriptions on the temples are a source of much attraction to ardent travelers. The temple, built of red rocks, is composed of a five tier shikara. Restored in the 18th century by Ahilyabai Holkar, it houses beautiful carvings and sculptures of many Indian Gods and Goddesses. Holy water is known to spring from inside the temple.

After getting blessed at this holy shrine, drive towards ELLORA CAVES: Well known for its monumental caves, Ellora is a World Heritage Site.Ellora represents the epitome of Indian rock-cut architecture. The 34 "caves" are actually structures excavated out of the vertical face of the Charanandri hills. Buddhist, Hindu and Jain rock-cut temples and viharas and mathas were built between the 5th century and 10th century.

On the way back, visit Khuldabad : Initially it was known as "Rauzaa" as meaning garden of paradise. It is known as the Valley of Saints, or the Abode of Eternity, because in the 14th century, several Sufi saints chose to reside here. The dargah of Zar Zari Zar Baksh, Shaikh Burhan ud-din Gharib Chisti and Shaikh Zain-uddin Shirazi, along with the tomb of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and his trusted general Asif Jah I, the first Nizam of Hyderabad, are located in this town. The place also has famous Bhadra Maruti Temple.Nearby is the Valley of the Saints, which is purported to contain the graves of 1500 Sufi saints.

Daulatabad is what Daulatabad fort was called after it came into possession of Muhammad-bin-Tughluq. It carries the distinction of remaining undefeated in battle. It is a 14th-century fort city in Maharashtra, India. The place, was originally named Devagiri, circa the sixth century AD, when it was an important uplands city along caravan routes. Starting 1327, it famously remained the capital of Tughlaq dynasty, under Muhammad bin Tughluq (r. 1325-1351), who also changed its name, and forcibily moved the entire population of Delhi here, for two years, before it was abandoned due to lack of water. There is a tradition that Deoghur or Doulatabad was built in 1203 AD by a Dhangar or herdsman who acquiring by some unusual good fortune vast wealth was named by his brother shepherds Rajah Ram and soon after assumed the rank of a Rajah.

Return to Aurangabad in evening, rest of the time at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

The crater that is formed because of the impact is the third largest crater lake in the world. Geological studies have revealed that the lake is more than 40,000 years old. The place is important not just for its crater lake, it is important also for its wonderful temples. Today, however, nothing but the ruins of the templeremains.
