Join African Moon Adventures on a “blooming" great trip to see the world’s greatest flower show in the Northern Cape and West Coast of South Africa. View the Namaqualand daisies and more than 3 500 floral species emerge in spring – from early August to the end of September. 3 Full days including all meals and 2 nights accommodation.

African Moon Adventures specialise in small group travel, of no more than 6 guests per trip. This allows us to give our clients a more personal and unique experience overall. We can also go to places that the bigger conventional tour busses cannot. If you want to stop and take a pic, we can do this! Each person will have a comfortable window seat, with head-rest, seat belt and individually controlled air-conditioner, so you get to travel in style and comfort.

Day 1 : Cape Town to Clanwilliam

Trip departs Cape Town @ 07h30 via the N7 over Piekenierskloof Pass, where we will stop for refreshments at Kardoesie. Next stop will be Clanwilliam, where we visit the Rooibos Tea factory and indulge in all the goodness and flavours on offer.

Then we head over to the *Wild Flower Show, set in an historic church, with majestic gothic architecture as the backdrop. Lunch will be served at the Dam Bistro. After lunch we head to Ramskop Nature Garden to view all the amazing wild flowers in bloom.

We travel over the Pakhuis Pass and down into the Biedouw Valley where we will reach Traveller’s Rest, our overnight accommodation. The remainder of the afternoon will be at your own leisure, to rest, read a book, or join me on a short hike to see some ancient Bushman rock art. The Sevilla trail starts at Traveller’s Rest and offers a 5km ramble through the mysterious world of the San. There are 9 sites on the trail which offer a stunning glimpse of rock art left behind by the San Bushmen. For those of you who do not want to do the full 5km hike, but still want to get a glimpse of this art, you can view the first 3 sightings just 1km from the start, and then you can take a leisurely stroll back.

Afterwards you can relax with sundowners before enjoying your dinner at Traveller’s Rest. As an added bonus, you will be delighted to see the entire night sky filled with millions of stars before you head off for a good night’s rest.

We depart @ 08h30 for Loeriesfontein after a hearty “Farm or Health Breakfast” at Traveller’s Rest. Our first stop will be in Vanrhynsdorp at the Kokerboom Succulent Nursery, after which we go to the Latsky Radio Museum, with their over 200 radios dating as far back as 1915.

We then travel to Nieuwoudtville and stop on VanRhyns Pass for refreshments and to admire the breathtaking view, before we head off to the Nieuwoudtville Flower Reserve. A light lunch of roosterkoek, freshly baked breads etc. will be had at the Blik Bazaar.

After lunch we will visit some of the best viewing sites in the area before we drive towards Loeriesfontein. We will stop at the spectacular Nieuwoudtville Waterfall, where you can see this amazing waterfall which seemingly rises out of the earth, before we head off to the Quiver Tree Forest, which is an absolute must-see.

Late afternoon arrival at Loeriesfontein, where we will book into the Loeriesfontein Hotel.
At your leisure - take a stroll to the Fred Turner/Windpump Museum and also walk around the little town and see the fields of flowers on the open spaces. Dinner will be served by the hotel, after which you can get an early night for the final day ahead.

Once you have had your breakfast, we leave Loeriesfontein @ 08h00 and travel towards the West Coast to see its abundance of flowers. We will stop off in Elands Bay for light refreshments. Then we head to Langebaan via Laaiplek and Veldrift where we will see flowers all along the coast.

We will have a buffet lunch at the famous Boesmanland Farm Kitchen overlooking the ocean in Langebaan.

Our last activity on this trip will be the West Coast National Park, where you will find the sandveld embroidered with a tapestry of multi-hued flowers. Sightings of antelope also normally in abundance.

We will stop off at the West Coast Farm Stall for a nice cup of tea and to reminisce about our trip before heading back home.
