Many trekkers believe that their Everest trek is incomplete if they do not make it to the Gokyo Valley, the Gokyo Peak, and the the all-famous pass, Cho La Pass. The entire area of Everest Base Camp is blessed with great natural beauty. Besides the tranquil appearance of the shimmering glacial Lakes, we can also enjoy 360 degree panoramic views of the towering mountains including four above 8000 meters of altitude. From Gokyo valley, we can observe the world famous peaks above 8000 meters including Mount Cho Oyu (8201m), Mount Makalu (8463meters), Mount Lhotse (8,516meters) and Mount Everest (8848meters).
The Everest Base Camp Trek with Cho La Pass begins from Kathmandu when we board a flight to Lukla or the Tenzing-Hillary Airport from Kathmandu. It is a wonderful mountain flight and the flight itself can be no less than an adventure as the airport is enlisted as the most dangerous airport in the world, given the location, altitude and topography. The real trek starts from Lukla as we trek until Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest. Namche Bazaar is also called as the capital of Sherpa’s where we are greeted by spectacular mountains and the friendly Sherpa’s. The Sherpa village, its culture and the monasteries are also one of the features of this trek. The lush alpine forests and wildlife, glacial rivers and the waterfalls, rugged trails, the mountains, and the abundant Buddhist monasteries all come under the way to Everest Base Camp. Gokyo Valley is another important destination of this wonderful adventurous trek. From Gokyo valley we then proceed towards Cho La pass. The most strenuous and demanding part of the trip is crossing the challenging Cho La Pass.
Thed cresendo of the trip is upon reaching the EBC and Kalapatthar. Kalapatthar became popular a couple of years ago when then Prime Minister of Nepal Madhav Kumar Nepal held a cabinet meeting with the ministers at Kalapatthar to attract global attention on climate change and its affect on the mountains. From Kalapatthar trekking, we return to Lukla to board a flight back to Kathmandu completing the breathtaking trek to the Everest Base Camp.
Day 1 : Arrival At the Tribhuwan International Airport (tia), Kathmandu
You will be welcomed by our team members at the Airport and will be then ushered to the Hotel. Our travel representatives will explain briefly about the travel itinerary upon Airport arrival. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 2 : Fly to Lukla and Trek Until Phakding (2610m)
On the seond morning, you will board a flight to Lukla Airport, also commonly known as Tenzing-Hillary Airport. It is a wonderful mountain flight and the flight itself can be no less than an adventure as the airport is enlisted as the most dangerous airport in the world, given the location, altitude and topography. In less than 30 minutes, you will reach Lukla while enjoying the breathtaking views of the mountains during the flight. After landing at Lukla, we take light breakfast and embark on our trek. In around 3 hours, we reach Phakding village where we will be staying overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 3 : Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 6 Hrs
On the third morning, we resume our trek and follow the trail along the Dudh Kosi River while ascending through Himalayan Pine and Doedar Cedar forests to the ultimate destination, that of popular village of Namche Bazaar. The village of Namche has remained a historic trading point for Nepalese and Tibetan traders who exchange salt, dried meat and other consumable and textile items. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Namche.
Day 4 : Rest Day in Namche for Acclimatization
The fourth day of the trek will be spent in Namche itself for acclimatization purpose. As the altitude will now increase significantly, a day for acclimatization is paramount and strictly advisable for prospective trekkers. One can spend the day in Lukla visiting the local Bazaar of Namche or visiting the nearby Sherpa villages. If you are not much tired and are ready for a few hours of trek, then you can go to Everest Hotel for great panoramic views of Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse and others. Located at an altitude of 3900m, Everest Hotel is the hotell that is situated at the highest altitude in the world. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 5 : Trek to Dole (4190m) 5 Hrs
The trail is easy in the begging as we cross valleys along the rhododendron, juniper and large coniferous forests. During spring the forests are great to see as that is the time when rhododendrons bloom and the fragnance lingers on your nose for many days. We also see Sherpas bringing their herds of Yaks for grazing on the green pastures. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 6 : Trek to Machhermo (4470m) 5 Hrs
The trailo now becomes gradually difficult as the trekkers will have to negotiate thick forests, the increasing altitude and the lack of settlement areas. The trails continue to climb up along the side of the valley until it reaches Machhermo. It is also believed that the region of Machhermo is the home of Yeti, mythical snow man. It is believed that Yeti lives on snow and somewhere around the region of Everest. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 7 : Trek to Gokyo (4790m) 4 Hrs
On the seventh day, we climb just around 300 meters and reach Gokyo Valley. We come across several glacier lakes on our way before reaching the amazing Gokyo Valley. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 8 : Gokyo to Dragnak (4700m) 3 Hrs
From Gokyo, we head towards Dragnak which is located at almost the same altitude as Gokyo. Trek towards Chola Pass is much easier from Dragnak and that is the reason whey we trek until Dragnak on day eight. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 9 : Trek to Chola Pass and to Dzongla (4830) 7 Hrs
The most crucial day of the trek is on the ninth day as it is along trek and we have to reach the Pass by 9-10 AM in the morning else the weather conditions will greatly hinder our journey. The trek starts early in the morning at 5 AM. The trail can also be difficult due to snow and slippery way. Strong winds and the high altitude could also pose problems for the trekkers. However, once you reach the Chola Pass, you will forget all the difficulties that you endured during the trek as
you will be dazzled by the view from the top. We then descend to the Dzongla at noon. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 10 : Trek to Lobuche (4910m) 3 Hrs
Today will be a short trek compared to yesterday’s trek as we will trek for around 3 hours and reach Lobuche where we will staying overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 11 : Trek to Gorak Shep (5164m) 4 Hrs
Trek to Gorak Shep will also be a short trek as we will hike for around four hours and reach the destination for day eleven. Overnight stay at a guesthouse
Day 12 : Trek to Kalapatthar (everest Base Camp) -5364m and Back to Gorak Shep and Dingboche (4410m)
The most sought after point of the trek comes on day 12 as we head towards Kalapattar - the best place to view the entire Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks from ridiculously close distance. Kalapatthar is also the Everest Base Camp and it is located at an altitude of 5364 meters. And it is also the point from where the Everest expedition starts. After staying at Kalapatthar for some time, we head back towards Gorak Shep. A couple of hours hike will bring us back there. We will take lunch at Gorak Shep and will then head towards Dingboche, the place for overnight stay on day twelve.
Day 13 : Trek to Namche 7 Hrs
Journery back to Namche is quite easy and comfortable as it traverses through several Sherpa settlement areas and villages. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Namche.
Day 14 : Trek to Lukla 7 Hrs
The trek continues further downhill as we reach Lukla after almost seven hours of trek. You will be staying in Lukla for the rest of the day and prepare yourself to board a flight back to Kathmandu the next day.
Day 15 : Fly Back to Kathmandu
On the penultimate day of the tour package, you will board a flight back to Kathmandu while enjoining the 30-minutes of exhilarating mountain flight. The rest of the time in Kathmandu, you will be shopping and buying souvenoirs to your loved ones. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 16 : Departure to Tia “farewell!
On the 16th day of the tour package, you will return to your country via the international Airport in Kathmandu.
