Day 1 : Arrival at Kalimpong
On arrival at the nearest airport, drive to Kalimpong. Kalimpong considered as the oldest town in hills of Darjeeling was once the head quarter of Bhutanese Governor, the word Kalim means “ Minister” and pong is “stronghold”. It is also called Kalibong or the “Black spur” by the locals and to the local Lepcha it is known as Ka (we) –LEM (play) – PONG ( ridge), ” The ridge where we play”. Kalimpong was silk route to the Tibet and also famous center of eastern and central Tibetan wool trade. Explore local market in the evening. Overnight at hotel
Day 2 : Explore Kalimpong
Proceed for Kalimpong sightseeing after breakfast. Visit the magnificent towering monastery of Zang Dog Palri on the Durpin Dara, which has a commanding view of Kalimpong town and the surrounding region. If the day is clear we will be able to see the ranges of Kanchenjunga and also some of the Bhutanese hills. Flower Nursery - Kalimpong is called the "City of Flower" as the climate of this city is ideal for the cultivation for flower and plants. Kalimpong produces 80% of India’s Gladioli and having numerous nurseries which produce and export exotic flowers like Roses, Gerberas, Dahlias, Amaryllis Lillies etc. Kalimpong is also produced some beautiful varieties of Orchids and Cacti. During the season entire hills are on fire with a riot of colours. Deolo Hills - the highest point of Kalimpong and it located at the North East of the town. Dr. Graham’s Homes - this famous school was established by a Scottish Missionary – Rev. Dr. John Anderson Graham in 1900 with a mere six orphans. Mangal Dham - An excellent temple complex built in the memory of late Guruji Mangal Dasji and dedicated to Lord Krishna. Gaden Tharpa Choling Monastery - a Gelugpa monastery situated at the hilltop in Kalimpong, India. The monastery was founded by Domo Geshe Rinpoche Ngawang Kalsang in 1912. Tsonga Monastery - the oldest monsatery in Kalimpong which was built in 1692. It’s also known as the Bhutan Monastery and located near to Mangal Dham, Lepcha Museum - The museum is situated about a kilometer away from the town. Various articles of worship, original lepcha musical instruments and many other articles can be seen here, Himalayan Hand Made Paper Industry - manufacture Japanese style handmade paper from a non tree shrub, the species of Daphne know as Argalee (local name) or Lokta (in Nepal). Day 3 : Kalimpong - Gangtok
After breakfast drive towards Gangtok which is interesting for scenic views of curving valleys and the serpentine rivers and of course the green vegetation of the eastern Himalayas. East Sikkim is one of the four districts of the state which is the south-east part of Sikkim. The capital city of Sikkim – Gangtok, is located in this part of the Sikkim and this part is also the hub of all the administrative activities on the state. Most of the tourists explore East Sikkim Tourism as this part of the state happens to be the most popular part of the state. East Sikkim Tourism has a number of great tourist attractions where people visit and explore the culture, history and heritage. Overnight at hotel
Day 4 : Explore Gangtok
After breakfast visit Rumtek Monastery which is Situated on the opposite hill of Gangtok, Rumtek is the seat of Karmapa sect who heads the Karma - Kagyupa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The earlier monastery is situated on the lower parts of the hill and after the Chinese aggression the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa after coming back from Tibet built the new monastery on the top of the hill. Built in 1960s the monastery is said to be the biggest monastery in Sikkim which has its own school to impart teachings in Tibetan and various aspects of Tibetan Buddhism. After Rumtek, we drive to visit Institute of Tibetology at Deorali. The Institute of Tibetology was established in the year 1958 to promote research on the language and culture of Tibet as well as Mahayana Buddhism. It is home to a collection of almost 30,000 volumes on diverse subjects like astrology, philosophy, tantric and religion. Its vast wealth of Lepcha, Tibetan and Sanskrit manuscripts as well as statues and Thangkhas attracts scholars from all corners of the world. After this we check in the hotel and after lunch visit to the Enchey monastery, Institute of Cottage and handloom Industries run by the Government of Sikkim and then pay a visit to the flower show and walk down to explore Gangtok town. Day 5 : Gangtok - Ravangla
After breakfast, drive to Ravangla. Ravangla is a small town situated on the ridge between the Meanam and Tendong hills. An ideal place for quiet stay to enjoy natural bliss and short treks. Enroute visit Temi Tea Garden, the only tea garden in the entire Sikkim; Samdruptse which means in Bhutia language “The Wish Fulfilling Hill”. A 135 ft unique statue of Guru Padmasambhava is installed at the top of Samdruptse. And after lunch,visit Buddha Park constructed between 2006 and 2013 and features a 130-foot high statue of the Buddha as its centerpiece. Overnight at hotel
Day 6 : Ravangla - Yuksom
Drive to Yuksom after breakfast. On the way, visit Tashiding Monastery Monastery built by Ven. Nadak Sempo Chenpo and is consider one of the sacred Monasteries of Sikkim. And then visit Bon monastery. Bon was the earlier religion of Tibet. It is more than 18000 years old religion. In Sikkim there are 475 monasteries and this monastery is the only Bon monastery in Sikkim. After lunch, if time permits you can take a hike to Dubdi Monastery which is the oldest Monastery in Sikkim. It was built in 1641 the same year the first king of the Sikkim Phunstok Namgyal became the King of Sikkim. Yuksom is nice and beautiful hamlet and it is also starting point of the Kanchenjunga Trek which is at the altitude of 2010 mtrs. If we have time, we can visit the Birth place of Sikkim famously known as Norbu Ghang Throne. Otherwise we can visit next morning .This is the Throne where the first King of Sikkim was crowned as a King. You can witness the Throne and the First Parliament of the Sikkim and the Chorten. After the visit, walk back to the hotel .Over night at the hotel
Day 7 : Yuksom - Pelling
After breakfast drive to Kecheoparli Lake which is on the way to Pelling and is considered one of the Sacred and Holy lake of West Sikkim. After lunch visit The Pemayangtse Monastery “the perfect sublime lotus”built on the 2085mtrs hill high commanding of the finest view of the Kanchenjunga range. Monastery was built in 1645 by Ven. Lhatsun Chempo. Monastery belongs to the Nyingmapa sect and is the most important religious Institute of Sikkim. On the top of the Monastery one can see a structure depicting heavenly sphere,” Sangdopherlri”, minutely carved wonderful intricate artistic work. If time permits one can visit Ruins of the Rabdentse Palace which is the second Capital of the Sikkim. Overnight at the hotel
Day 8 : Pelling - Darjeeling
After breakfast proceed to Darjeeling. Darjeeling, one of the most beautiful hill station is generally called the “ Queens of the hills”. It has all attributes of a queen like glamour and beauty of evergreen hills around, green tea gardens at her feet and Mt. Kanchenjunga as her crown. In Sanskrit, Durjaya linga means “Shiva of invincible power who rules the Himalayas”. Darjeeling is northern district of West Bengal, which shares its border with Sikkim in the north, Nepal in the west, Bhutan in the east and Bangladesh and plains of Bengal in the south. Day 9 : Explore Darjeeling
Early morning drive to the Tiger hill. Situated at an altitude of 2590 meters Tiger hill has earned international fame for the magnificent view of the sunrise. The majestic peak Kanchenjunga (8596 mtrs) rears up flanked by Mt.Kabru and Mt Pandim to the far left are Everest, Makalu and Lhotse. Other peaks visible from here are Mt. Jano, Mt. Nar sing, Mt. Frey peak, Mt. Sinolchu etc. After Tiger Hill visit Yiga Choling Monastery of Ghoom. Take a joy ride in the famous Darjeeling "Toy Train", titled World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After breakfast visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, a high altitude wildlife Zoo with the most successful captive breeding center for Snow leopard and Red Panda. After this visit, you may proceed to Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center and then Tea Garden. Evening free for market Overnight at Hotel
Day 10 : Departure
Drive to the nearest airport. End of Tour
