Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Delhi

On arrival at IGI Airport, you will be greeted and warmly welcomed by Footloose Holidays representative who will escort you to your pre-booked hotel. Have a relaxed overnight stay here and brace yourself for the eventful journey ahead.

Day 2 : At Delhi

Post a hearty breakfast, get ready for a full day visit to some of the temples in Delhi known for their incredible architecture, positive atmosphere and the place where you feel spiritually connected to the almighty. We begin with Akshardham Temple (closed on Monday), also called Swaminarayan Temple, displaying Hindu culture and its spiritual philosophy. Next we go to The Lotus Temple,(closed on Monday) located in New Delhi, constructed in the shape of a flower is a Bahá’í House of Worship which was completed in 1986 and since then has been attracting a lot of attention from people belonging to any religious background. It has won numerous architectural awards and is worth the visit. Our next stop will be The National Museum (closed on Monday & national Holiday) also known as the National Museum of India, is appreciated for its large collection of the works of art including various artefacts ranging from pre-historic era to modern times.

After this we begin with certain monuments which have become the landmark of not only Delhi but also independent and progressing India. Drive through India Gate, a high stone arch which is a memorial raised in honour of the Indian soldiers who fought & died in the campaign of world war-1 & Afghan war. Rastrapathi Bhawan or the President House- built in 1929 is the official residence of the President of Indian Republic and also the Parliament House, the building that is admired for its circular shape, houses the two houses of Parliament. Somewhere these structures stand for a strong democratic country, symbolising India and its strength. Enjoy something from the North Indian cuisine for lunch and dinner at a local restaurant. Come back to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 3 : Bhopal by Morning Flight – Excursion to Sanchi with overnight stay at Indore

The following day begins a little early with either an early breakfast or the packed one before you are transferred to the airport to board your flight to Bhopal, state capital of Madhya Pradesh, one of the major states of India, located in central India. On arrival, you will be met by Footloose Holidays representative who will assist you in being driven to Sanchi Stupa, located 45kms away on a hilltop is one of the oldest stone structures commissioned by Emperor Ashoka over the relics of Lord Buddha. This and other structures in Sanchi symbolise the popularity and belief of people in Gautam Buddha and his teachings. This place attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world not only to pay respect to lord Buddha but also to study these incredibly built structures. Take a break and enjoy something from the local cuisine for lunch at a nearby restaurant and then drive to Indore (230 kms / 4½ hrs). On arrival here, you will be checking in at your pre-booked hotel, where you can have a relaxed dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 : Indore – Aurangabad via Ajanta Cave.

Next morning, post breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to Aurangabad, a city in Maharashtra state. On the way, visit Ajanta Caves, (closed on Monday), the finest example of ancient Indian art, built-in two phases, showcasing paintings, pictorial tales and rock-cut sculptures of Buddhist’s deities. These are the 30 rock-hewn caves of Ajanta. The Caves, though date from the 2nd century BC were discovered in 1819. These caves also feature several ‘chaityas’ (chapels) and ‘viharas’ (monasteries), leaving one wonder-struck with the amazing form of art displayed only with simple tools such as chisel and hammer. Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant. By the evening, you will be driven to Aurangabad where you spend rest of your time at leisure. Also have a sumptuous dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5 : Aurangabad – Ellora Caves (Aurangabad – Mumbai by evening Flight)

The following morning, post a hearty breakfast proceed for the sightseeing tour of Aurangabad city. Time to visit another manmade marvel in the form of Ellora Caves (closed on Tuesday) depicting the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain faiths in the form of rock cut structures constructed between 5th and 8th centuries A.D. Come back to the hotel to enjoy your lunch. Utilise your afternoon time for shopping. By evening you will be transferred to Aurangabad Airport as per your flight schedule to board a flight for Mumbai. On arrival at Mumbai, you will be greeted and escorted to your pre-booked hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6 : Mumbai Departure

The following morning, after the breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a full day city tour. Enjoy being at Gateway of India, first discovered by Vasco-da-Gama, a Portuguese traveller which established link between Europe and Asia by an ocean route. Explore these caves called Elephanta (closed on Monday). Post lunch, continue local sightseeing & shopping. After your enjoyable dinner in a city restaurant, you will be transferred to airport to catch flight for onward destination with many beautiful and cherished memories of this trip into exploring the Buddhist art forms.
