Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Nairobi - Aberdare National Park

Early in the morning you will be met by the driver/guide or Tour Manager who will welcome you and brief you on the safari before departing to Aberdare National Park. Upon arrival, you will check in to the lodge before you depart to explore the rugged terrain within the park which is filled with natural beauty such as deep ravines that cut through forested slopes, clear streams and waterfalls, unusual vegetation, and scenic landscape. In the evening you will be transferred back to the lodge for overnight stay and dinner.

The Aberdare National Park is an isolated volcanic range that forms the eastern wall of the rift valley. It has diverse moorlands filled with deep ravines cutting through the forested eastern and western slopes, with many clear streams and waterfalls. It is also an important water catchment area, providing water to the Tana and Athi River. The Park is surrounded by an indigenous forest which houses the famous Kimathi Hideout/Mau Mau caves, which were used as a hide out for Mau Mau fighters. The park is also home to most large mammals such as the black rhinos, leopards, serval, different reptiles, a wide variety of insects and endemic bird species.

Lunch, dinner and overnight at The Ark.

  • Day 2 : Aberdare National Park - Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast you will depart for Lake Nakuru National Park for a memorable game viewing and bird watching experience. Upon arrival you will check in to the lodge for lunch before departing for an afternoon game drive. In the evening, you will be transferred back to the lodge for overnight stay and dinner.

Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes. It lies to the south of Nakuru, in central Kenya and is protected by a small Lake Nakuru National Park. The lake's abundance of algae attracts a vast quantity of flamingos that famously lines the shore. Other birds also flourish in the area, as do warthogs, baboons and other large mammals. Black and White rhinos have also been introduced.

Lunch, dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.

  • Day 3 : Lake Nakuru National Park - Maasai Mara National Reserve

Pre-breakfast Game viewing within Lake Nakuru National Park will be followed by breakfast. After breakfast you will check out and depart to Maasai Mara National Reserve via Narok arriving in the afternoon in time for lunch. After lunch, depart for an afternoon game drive till evening.

The Maasai Mara, now the New 7th wonder of the world and 4th most preferred tourist destination in the world is a home to wildlife in such abundance and variety that it is difficult to imagine. The most spectacular event of the natural world takes place here; The annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture while being followed on their heels by the predators of the savanna; lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vulture. It hosts over 450 species of animals which include lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.

Lunch, dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge/Keekorok Lodge/Sarova Mara/Mara Serena.

  • Day 4 : Maasai Mara National Reserve

Spend the day enjoying game viewing within this beautiful and captivating park. Be sure to carry your camera to capture some of those unforgettable moments that you might encounter in this expansive park.

The wildebeests are the most dominant inhabitants of the Maasai Mara. Their numbers are estimated in millions. The great migration starts in July each year when well over one million wildebeest along with large numbers of Thompson's gazelles, zebra and other herbivores migrate from the Serengeti plains in Tanzania to fresh pastures in the north and then back south again in October.

All meals and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge/Keekorok Lodge/Sarova Mara/Mara Serena.

  • Day 5 : Maasai Mara National Reserve - Kisumu/Kericho

Enjoy an early morning pre breakfast game drive to get to spot the animals when they are most active. After breakfast you will depart Maasai Mara for Kisumu City. You will arrive in the afternoon and have lunch at your hotel. After lunch, you will have the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Lunch, dinner and overnight at Kiboko Bay Beach Resort/The Tea Hotel.

  • Day 6 : Kisumu - Kakamega Forest National Park - Kisumu/Kericho

After breakfast, you will carry packed picnic lunch and depart to Kakamega Forest where you will enjoy walking safaris in this beautiful forest. The guide that we will give you is a local native of this area and is therefore very well experienced in the local fauna/flora of the area (therefore there is no need to hire a guide at Kakamega Forest). You will spend the day here and in the late afternoon, depart back to Kisumu where you will spend the night.

The Kakamega forest is the only remnant in Kenya of the once great tropical rainforest that stretched across Central Africa. It is now famous for being the home to over 330 recorded species of birds, insects, monkeys, snakes and other mammals, as well as a diversity of tree species. Amongst the massive trees, you will find natural streams, colorful butterflies and a bunch of chattering monkeys. The forest is famously known as an important birding area. The most suitable time of the year for bird watching is after the heavy rains when many birds are in breeding and also in the mid morning and late afternoon when the birds are out looking for food. Species of birds such as the flycatcher, chestnut, wattle-eye, cuckoo-shrike, honey guide, black-billed turaco, and the bee-eater are common inhabitants of the forest.

Dinner and overnight at Sunset Hotel, Kisumu/The Tea Hotel.

  • Day 7 : Kisumu - Mombasa

After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and be transferred to Kisumu Airport to catch the morning flight to Mombasa for your beach holiday.

With over 300 miles of extensive sandy beaches fringed with coconut palms and lapped by the warm Indian Ocean, the Kenyan coast is a 'must' in any holidaymaker's itinerary. The beaches offer opportunities for blissful relaxation, swimming in the balmy ocean, sailing in a variety of boats, exploring the protective coral reefs which stretch offshore, fishing afloat fleets of deep sea fishing boats equipped with the latest modern equipment, water skiing and other water sports. Hotels offer excellent and varied cuisine and sea food while enjoying a variety of entertainment.

    End of safari.
