Sri Gangotri Dham: Gangotri , the origin of the River Ganges and seat of the goddess Ganga, situated in Uttarkashi. . The original temple was constructed by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the early years of 18th century and later rebuilt by the Maharaja of Jaipur. The river is called Bhagirathi at the source and acquires the name Ganga (the Ganges) from Devprayag onwards where it meets the Alaknanda. The origin of the holy river is at Gaumukh, set in the Gangotri Glacier, and is a 19 km trek from Gangotri.
The shrine of Gangotri is situated at an elevation of 3048 m amidst captivating surroundings. Gangotri is located at a distance of 99 km from Uttarkashi is situated on the left bank of Bhagirathi. It is visited by lakhs of pilgrims every year. A number of ashrams are located on the other side, some of which provide accommodation facilities to the visitors.
Sri Yamunotri Dham: Yamunotri , is the source of the Yamuna River and the seat of the Goddess Yamuna. It is situated in the Garhwal Himalayas and located approximately 30 kilometers (19 mi) North of Uttarkashi. The sacred shrine of Yamunotri, source of the river Yamuna, is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas, perched atop a flank of Bandar Poonch Parvat. The chief attraction at Yamunotri is the temple devoted to the Goddess Yamuna and the holy thermal springs at Janki Chatti. The tiny Yamuna has icy cold water and its absolute innocence and the infantile purity heightens that deep feeling of reverence, Yamunoyri for the devout.
Sri Kedarnath Dham: Kedarnath is a Hindu holy town located in the Himalayas, about 3584m above sea level near the head of river Mandakini , and is flanked by breathtaking snow-capped peaks. Kedarnath hosts one of the holiest Hindu temples, the Kedarnath Temple, and is a popular destination for Hindu pilgrims from all over the world, being one of the four major sites in India's Char Dham pilgrimage. Due to extreme weather conditions, the temple is open only between the end of April to Kartik Purnima (the autumn full moon).
Kedarnath is named after King Kedar who ruled in the Satya Yuga. He ruled the seven continents and was a very saintly king. He had a daughter named Vrinda who was a partial incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. The temple itself is quite an exquisite example of stone work. Houses the lingam, a symbol of the Hindu God Shiva. The temple is located among astonishing mountain landscape surrounded by peaks that are over 6000 m in elevation.
Sri Badrinath Dham: Badrinath is in Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is the most important of the four sites in India's Char Dham pilgrimage. Badrinath is a magical blend of divinity and natural beauty. The most auspicious pilgrim spot of Hindus offer the thrill of conquering nature in freezing cold days and serves as the holy bridge which takes the visitors to heaven. Soak your sense in the inescapable spiritual aura and the breathtaking beauty of Neelkanth in its full glory under a full moon in Badrinath.
The relevancy of name and sitting posture as this place was full of Badri (Bael Fruit,'Ber' in Hindi) bushes and Vishnu meditating for couple of hundred years,beloved Lakshmi stood next to him sheltering him from scorching sunlight turned into a Badri herself called 'BADRI VISHAL' and her lord(Nath) became the BadriNath. The principal image of Badrinath is regarded as the first tirthankar, Rishabhanath by Jains.
