With a trip to the iconic New Zealnd writer Janet Frames house, some viewing of 1970’s designer gowns, victorian stone buildings and country lunches galore, weve got it covered.
You are also going to stay at a farmers homestead, take in a country fete at Nokomai, go on a to die for cruise of Milford Sound and enjoy fine wine and food.

Day 1 : Christchurch - Mt Cook
From Christchurch we head south down the Canterbury Plains to Ashburton to join our hosts Ian and Di Mackenzie for lunch in their 100 year old farm homestead, Akaunui surrounded by beautiful gardens. It’s never easy to leave Ian and Di’s warm hospitality. In the mid afternoon we drive into the Mackenzie Country to Lake Tekapo and up the valley road to The Hermitage and Aoraki/Mount Cook. We dine in the hotel’s Panorama Room this evening.
Day 2 : Mt Cook - Kurow - Oamaru
Today we enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Milford Road – a panorama of high mountains and deep valleys studded with waterfalls and we take a short walk alongside the beautiful Mirror Lakes. At Milford Sound we cruise for two and a half hours down the Sound to the Tasman Sea watching out for seals and dolphins with your onboard nature guide. In the late afternoon we return to Te Anau and dine at your hotel this evening.
Day 3 : Oamaru - Moeraki - Naseby
We take a trip back in time in the house where writer Janet Frame grew up. We visit the Moeraki Boulders and lunch at Fleur’s Place by the sea at Moeraki village. At Glenshee Park there’s an astonishing collection of 1970s Benson and Hedges award winning gowns, designer frocks and memorabilia. We drive on to Naseby and dine at the lodge’s Falconer restaurant.
Day 4 : Naseby - Clachanburn Garden - Queenstown
Naseby is home to a unique indoor curling rink. Have a try this morning! Driving into Ranfurly where antique shops are packed with Kiwiana then on to lunch at Jane Falconer’s Clachanburn Garden, a Garden of National Significance on a deer farm at Patearoa with elevated views across the Maniatoto Plain. In the afternoon we drive on to Queenstown. We dine in our hotel this evening.
Day 5 : Queenstown - Arrowtown - Te-Anau
There’s time to check out the Queenstown and Arrowtown shops before we visit Janet Blair’s garden of national significance near Lake Hayes and lunch nearby. From Queenstown we drive alongside Lake Wakatipu and continue on to Te Anau in the mid afternoon. Our hotel is just across the road from Lake Te Anau. At the local boutique cinema we see Ata Whenua – Shadowland, an evocative movie of Fiordland’s stunning beauty. We dine in the hotel this evening.
Day 6 : Te-Anau - Milford Sound Cruise - Te-Anau

From Te Anau we drive to Annabel and Russell Bruce’s farm Dunrobin at Mossburn for our farewell lunch then retrace our steps alongside Lake Wakatipu to Frankton and Queenstown.
