Yerevan-Yerevan is one of the oldest countries of the world. It was founded in 782 B.C. The word means which comes from Bible. Yerevan is mixture of old and new and here are a lot of sights and museums worth visiting. The city is full of various attractions as well.

Day 2 : Echmiadzin-Zvartnots-Sardarapat-Metsamor
Echmiadzin- one of the first Christian churches of the world. Visit to Echmiadzin Mother Cathedral (built in 301 A.D ) is a must for all Christians. Visiting here you’ll get acquainted with the adoption of Christianity in Armenia- the first Christian country of the world.
This is the only 7 domed church of Armenia and Holy Seat of
all the Armenians. Here you’ll have a opportunity to visit three
churches :Mother Cathedral of Echmiadzin, St. Hripsime
and St. Gayane churches. St. Hripsime is a unique church
included in the list of UNESCO. This is the first
cupola-domed church of worldwide architecture built in 618.
St. Gayane was built in the 7th c.
Zvartnots temple-the ruins of the
7th century Zvartnots temple < Temple of angels> is worth visiting and admiring the architectural talent of ancient Armenians.
Sardarapat-Due to this memorial complex (devoted to Bash-Aparan battle in 1918) the Armenians didn’t lose their religion and country and now days have their place under the Sun. Visiting this complex you’ll get acquainted with the eternal and unbelievable history of Armenia. Here you’ll visit to Ethnological museum of Armenia where you’ll see a special performance introducing some of Armenian national dishes and tools.
Metsamor-This is one of the ancient settlements of Armenian nation, dating back to Stone age, Bronze age, Iron age and middle age. The investigation has proved that in Early Bronze Age (4-3 millennium B.C.) Metsamor was a cradle of civilization. Almost 22 000 objects which were discovered during the investigations are shown in the museum which is situated next to the ruins of the settlement.

Day 3 : Xor Virap-Noravank-Areni wine factory-Jermuk
Xor Virap -this is the church where Grigor the
Illuminator stayed 13 years without any food and proved that
Christianity is a very powerful religion. After it the Armenians adopted Christianity by Grigor the Illuminator. From here opens the
wonderful view of the Armenian pride-Mt.Ararat. It dates back to
the 13th c.
Areni wine factory-Armenia is famouse as a wine making country and
the first grape vine was planted in Armenia by Noah after the Great Flood
Noravank -Visiting Noravank church complex you’ll appear in wonderland
as the church- complex is situated on the top of the rocks and is surrounded
with the miracle rocks and cliffs that change their color depending on the
Sun rays and weather. This complex dates back from 12th-13th c.
Jermuk-Welcome to one of the most picturesque resort areas of
Armenia, famous for its hot mineral springs and picturesque
gorge. It is 173 km south-east to Yerevan. A small roadside will
bring you to a picturesque waterfall. Armenian world wide famous
mineral water is gained from these springs. Be sure you’ll
not get sick and tired of the long road, as the way will admire
you with its unique nature which changes after each meter. Here is
a special medical resort area where you’ll discover your illness and remedies to treat it. It has a lot of parks and forested areas. The chemical content of the Jermuk mineral water is very close to the famous Karlovy Vary water in Czech Republic.

Day 4 : Sisavan -Tatev-Xndzoresk-Nagorny Karabagh
Sisavan church-St.Grigor church of Sisian was built at the end of the 6th century. Inside the church by microscope you will see Armenian alphabet, Bible and the church carved on a piece of hair with three lays.
Tatev -The monastery of Tatev is situated in the territory of Goris
in Syunik region. This is one of the richest monarchial
complexes of Medieval Armenia. The profitable strategic
position and inaccessibility created suitable conditions to
construct strong buildings and ramparts in defiance of the
complex. This complex consists of several churches, living
rooms, oil-making reservoir and buildings of economic
importance. The stick or swinging column of the monastery
is of great interest. It is 6 m high and by the strides of the detachment it moved and warned the monks about the danger. Here is the longest rope-way of the world.
Xndzoresq-This is a cave village. Since the slopes have no flat spaces fit for building, the people have dug terraces in the rocks in such way that the roof of the lower house served as the courtyard floor for the one above it. The tomb of Mkhitar Sparapet, a confederate of David Bek is here. Presently the Old Xndoresk possesses the status of a historical landmark under public protection.
Nagorny Karabagh(Artsax) –Every Armenian feels proud and gets excited of happiness when he enters his historical land Artsax. For the citizens of Armenia the entrance is free, but the foreigners need visa for entrance, which they can get in Yerevan or in the border. Now days it is quite a safe and wonderful place for traveling. The people of Karabagh are very hospitable, and proud of their origin. The area is rich with wonderful architectural, natural and historical places. Here you will have a chance to visit a lot of historical places.
Day 5 : Stepanakert-Shushi-Gandzasar-Ancient tree-Amaras monastery
City tour of Stepanakert-Stepanakert is the capital of Nagorny Karabagh and here are many parks, museums and markets, some of which you will visit.
Shusi church-The cultural capital of Artsakh- Shoushi is considered to be the the most ancient spiritual and cultural center of the Caucasus. The city is
known for its strong fortress and different historical places of interest. A mosque of 18 century and St. Ghazanchetsots church is situated here. Due to Shushi battle Armenian land Artsax is reachable for the Armenians.
Gandzasar-Gandzasar has its particular
place in the rows of Artsax monuments. It is considered to be one of
the gems of Armenian medieval architecture. It consists of church, hall,
friary cabins and other economic buildings. The part of the main
church architectural ornaments are the high-relieves of the domes
polygonal drum. The monastery is built on a woody hill named
Gandzasar from which heritages its name.
Ancient tree-This is one of the most ancient trees of the world. It has more
then three thousand years history and its roots are very impressive. The admiration of this tree is in that fact, that its is open and 20 people can enter inside the tree at the same time.
Amaras monastery-This monastery was built in the 4th c and this is the first place where Mesrop Mashtots-the creator of Armenian alphabet opened the first school of Armenia.
Day 6 : Askeran fortress-Yeghegis-Selim -Sevan
Askeran fortress- visiting here you’ll see half-ruined 18c fortress. The enormous walls will astonish you with their strength and architectural minds.
Yeghegis church-Yegheis is a historical city sprinkling of antiquates. Here is St.Astvatsatin basilica dating back to the 18th century, small church of St.Karapet (13th century) and St.Zorats cathedral built in the 14th century. St.Zorats ( in Armenian means ) is a pretty unique church. Its name comes from the custom of consecrating arms and horses there before battle.
Selim caravanserai and pass-According to the Armenian inscription on the right inside the door, prince Chesar Orbelian and his brothers built this in 1332 in the reign of Abu Said the Second Xan.This is the best preserves caravansary in Armenia. There is a little spring just uphill beyond the caravansary.
Lake Sevan - This is undoubtedly one of the most exciting sight in
Armenia. It is >. This wonder is situated
at almost 2000m above the sea level. Its beauty is austere and majestic.
The pure air and sandy beaches attract holiday makers. This is the
largest lake of the Caucasus and one of the highest fresh water
lakes in the world.
Day 7 : Sevanavank-Noraduz-Hairavank-Dilijan-Haghartsin-Goshavank
Sevanavank-this church is on the top of Sevan peninsula. From here opens the wonderful view of lake Sevan.
Noraduz-this place is world-wide famous khachkar (cross-stone)
cemetery of Armenia.Visiting here you’ll get acquainted with
Armenian special art-xachkar-making. The oldest khachkars date
back to the 10th c. Here used to be approximately 1000 items of
this incredible art.
Hairavank-this temple dates back from the 9th-12th centuries.
Diligan-is one of the forest-rich cities of Armenia. This resort area is famous with its unique architectural and historical sights. Visiting here you’ll appear in wonderland. This is the of Armenia with its picturesque nature.
Haghartsin-This complex was built in the 13th c and appearing here you seem to appear in a miracle land, as the natural and architectural beauty is very harmonic and impressive. In 2011 it was wholly repaired and equipped with all modern technologies for the church protection.
Goshavank- was founded by Armenian famous fabler Mkhitar
Gosh in the 13th century. Here is the most famous masterpiece
of carved-cross stones (khachkar) which is an

openwork lace. The distinctiveness and richness of the church’s decoration evidence the artistic taste and consummate skill of the craftsmen who created it.
Day 8 : Tsaxkadzor-Bjni-Yerevan
Tsaxkadzor- this is translated as the gorge of flowers. It has a unique beauty in each season. It is known both its winter and summer attractions. If
you get on a cabin you’ll have an opportunity to have a look of
the whole Armenia. Here are hotels, restaurants, resorts, guest
houses. The Olympic Training Center for winter and summer
sports, consisting of various sports facilities (swimming pools,
skating rinks, ski trails, tennis courts, etc.) is located here.
This is world wide famous winter resort. A healthy
climate and picturesque scenery, forest-grown mountain slopes and blossoming valleys You’ll visit the architectural and artistic complex of Kecharis. This architectural complex dates back to the 13th century.
Bjni-This is a village of famous Armenian mineral water. Here are two churches: St.Sargis-built by pink tuff on a high rock in the 7th century. It is the smallest among cross-domed type churches St.Astvatsatsin- built by Grigor Magistros in the 11th century. It is assumed that the church was used to preserve the manuscripts copied in the monastery. The church was restored in the 20th century.
Day 9 : Garny-Geghard and Yerevan city tour
Garny-This is the only pagan temple in the territory of
Armenia dating back from 3rd c. B.C. upto 1st c. A.D. This unique temple is a wonderful example of Roman architecture. Visiting here you’ll get acquainted with the paganism roots in Armenia.
Geghard-This is the only rock-curved church of Armenia and one
of the masterpieces of the world dating back to the 13th c. This church
complex is built inside a huge rock and the acoustic is unbelievable
impressive inside this miracle. Here you’ll have one of the unique

Day 10 : Oshakan-Letters park-Amberd-Harichavank-Gyumri
Oshakan -this is the place, where the creator of the Armenian alphabet- Mesrop Mashtots is buried. This is a 19th century building but his grave was erected in the 5th century. Here you’ll be introduced with Armenian alphabet, the creation work of it, Armenian language which is very old one. When you get accounted with the Armenian language, you’ll realize that Armenian was the base of many languages. Armenian alphabet is one of the most phonetic alphabets. It can be used for translation of words from any other alphabet without changing the initial pronunciation of sounds.
Letters park-this park of Armenian letters was founded in 2005 on the slope of Mt. Aragats (the highest mountain in Republic of Armenia, 4090m) dedicated to 1600th anniversary of the invention of Armenian alphabet.
Amberd-Amberd fortress is the only well survived fortress of Armenia
dating back to the Bronze age. The castle ruins of Amberd comprised
an area of 1,500 square meters. Its walls are constructed of roughly hewn
basalt blocks set in place with mortar.
Harichavank-this temple is situated on the west foot of mountain
Aragats on a rocky cape. According to investigators it was
founded in the 7th century. This monastery is very impressive with its architectural ornaments and huge dome. The main church was built in the 13th century. In 19 century the monastery became a summer residence for patriarchs. The small chapel which is not far from the complex built on a piece of rock is of great attention, as during an earthquake it was separated from the main rock and was got to our times almost harmless.
Gyumri introduction city tour-Gyumri is Armenian's second largest city and the cultural centre of Armenia. This is the only place of Armenia where you can see an authentic historic Armenian city. Though this city saw the terrible earthquake of Spitak but today it is modern country and the most lovely place for everybody, as the horror history of this city made the citizens too kind and hospitable and due to their sense of humor they overcame all difficulties.
Day 11 : Marmashen-Dsegh-Haghpat-Sanahin
Marmashen –This church complex is situated on a picturesque plateau on a high coast of Akhurian river. It is a huge obelisk dating back from the 10-11th century. The complex is built by tuff lime-stone and it makes a great impression on a visitor.
Dsegh-This is the birth-place of worldwide famous Armenian poet
writer Hovahannes Tumanian. Here you will visit his memorial house
and after getting acquainted with this outstanding person’s biography and
works, you’ll have a rest in Anush solemn canyon admiring the lyric nature
of this village and listening some of his poems in English. Visiting here
you’ll appear in an eternal fairly tale.
Haghpat-Sanahin-Those are architectural masterpieces of Armenia in Lori region which is the greenest region of Armenia with its breath-taking panoramas, deep gorges etc. Both of these church are in great harmony with nature and it seems they are part of nature themselves. They date back from 10th-13th c. included in the list of UNESCO Architectural Treasures.
Day 12 : Odzun-Vanadzor cross-stone maker-Aparan- Saghmosavank-Mugni-Yerevan
Odzun--This is a large, wonderful longitudinal cruciform church .This is also notable for its figural relief sculpture. This looks like a miracle in the spot of nature.This church dates back to the 13th century. This is one of the unique churches, which is on the top of the canyon and half of it now is covered with moss and it looks like a part of nature.
Vanadzor cross-stone maker studio-Armenia is worldwide famouse with its unique architectural talented monuments –xachkars . We’ll visit to one of the studios where you’ll get acquainted with this art in details
Aparan-This is a village famous by humors and sheep breeding, that's why here you can see special markets of sheep. You can hear a huge number of anecdotes about these honest, simple and people. Here you will visit the memorial monument (Bash Aparan) devoted to the battle of Bash Aparan (1918). This was one of the most important battles for the Armenians. Many Armenian outstanding people took part of this battle, among them were Drastamak Kanayan (Dro) who was buried near this monument.
Saghmosavank-this monastery is distinguished by a compact arrangement of the monuments around the main building. The clever use of the terrain adds to the picturesque of the complex which is especially expressive when view from the opposite side of the canyon. The decoration is well thought-out. The southern and western facades are well illuminated and decorated more lavishly than the eastern and northern ones, which look very modest.
Mugni-Standing on an elevation, it is the architectural dominant of a vast settlement. The church St. Georgy was built in the 17-th century. It is a cross-winged domed basilica. Architectural details emphasize the artistic expressiveness of the building. The fine carved decoration of the southern portal is the most interesting.
