What to Expect

After early pickup from your Delhi hotel, travel southward by private, air-conditioned car to Vrindavan.

Hear all about this holy town, where the Hindu god Krishna is said to have spent his childhood, learning how its numerous temples draw flocks of pilgrims, and on route, stop by at a village to enjoy breakfast and chai.

Once in Vrindivan, enjoy a guided walk of the colorful streets. Along the way, call at some of the best-known temples, such as Bihariji, where an idol of Krishna stands behind a curtain that’s only opened every few minutes.

Afterward, enjoy lunch at a family home before continuing to Mathura, known as the birthplace of Krishna. Visit this sacred town on the River Yamuna, and view some of its temples dedicated to milestone events in Krishna’s life, such as Kesava Deo, where he is said to have been born in prison.

Next, enjoy a short boat ride on the Yamuna, passing some of Mathura’s ghats (temple riverside steps). Finish by watching an aarti ceremony, when devotees send lighted wicks onto the waters. Watch the flickering, floating lights and absorb the sense of spirituality before concluding with an evening hotel drop-off in Delhi.
