About Sibsagar

Sibsagar aka Sivsagar that literally translates into "The ocean of Lord Shiva" is a beguiling town located in the Indian State of Assam. In the former times, it was ruled by the Ahom dynasty for 6 centuries and was known by the name of Rangpur. During their reign, various architectures were erected. Though they are in a ruined state today, they still have the charm to attract visitors.


The Geography & Climate

Sibsagar is hoisted at 312 feet above the sea level. The craggy terrains of this place unfold across vast acres of land that are fed by the waters of the River Brahmaputra. This river flows close to Sibsagar and acts as a major source for the irrigation of land. The climate of this region is described as a subtropical in nature. During summers, the median mercury level scales between 36°C-40°C. During winters, it falls down below 15°C.
