Pachmarhi bears the distinction of being the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh deriving its name from a group of five caves, which, according to legend, served as shelter to the five Pandav brothers during their exile. Captain J. Forsyth, a British officer of the Bengal Lancers, discovered it and named as Forsyth's Point but as most of the points in Pachmarhi have later been renamed with Indian names, it is now known as Priyadarshini Point.
