  • Day 1 Arrival In Kochi

    Jewish SynagogueMattancherry PalaceSt. Francis ChurchDutch Palace

    Location 1: Dutch Palace Dutch Palace, also known as the Mattancherry Palace, is the perfect example of Kerala style architecture infused with colonial influences. The Palace was built around 1545 C.E. by the Portuguese as a present to then ruling king Veera Kerala Varma. The palace features a great collection of Murals, depicting fragments from Ramayana, Mahabharata and some great works of Sanskrit by poet Kalidasa spread across 300 sq. km. of the palace area. The museum also exhibits life-size portraits of the Kings of Cochin, their weaponry, royal accessories and coins issued by the kings. It is suggested not to carry your camera while you visit as photography is prohibited inside the palace Location 2: Jewish Synagogue The Jewish Synagogue is a one-of-its-kind house of worship in India. Built-in 1568 by the Cochin Jewish community, the place epitomizes the vestiges of a religion that was once very much a part of nation's population. With its exquisite Chinese hand painted porcelain tiles, wood carvings, Belgian originated chandelier and many precious antiquities, the interiors of the place is a sight to behold. The synagogue remains closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and during Jewish Holidays. Location 3: Fort Cochin Erstwhile administration center of Dutch, Portuguese and British, Fort Kochi is known for its incredible architecture. Despite being passed on through three different colonial powers, the fort has managed to retain its old world charm. While here, tourists could see fine houses, which used to be the home of rich traders during the British era. Various churches and museums within the fort are a must visit too. Another must visit landmark is the Vasco House. For a visit to Fort Kochi, comfortable footwear is recommended as the excursion involves a lot of walking Location 4: St. Francis Church Located within the Fort Cochin, St. Francis Church, built in 1503, is counted amongst the oldest European churches in India. It is known for its stunning stained glass windows, arched windows and porch. And also for the fact that the Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama was originally buried here. There's also a cemetery attached to the church containing tombstones carved with the names of many European military officers who lay buried here Location 5: Chinese Fishing Nets Dotting the waterfront, Chinese fishing nets are iconic landmarks of Kochi. Locally called Cheena Vala, this is one of the oldest fishing techniques. As per the historians, these fishing nets have been brought by Portuguese from Macau, once a Portuguese colony. While some accounts even mention that the concept of nets was introduced by Zheng He, a Chinese explorer who visited the Kochi shores over 500 years ago.     Location 1: Valara Waterfalls Located on the Munnar- Kochi flyover, Valara waterfall, dropping down from an altitude of 100 meters, is considered as one of the major sightseeing points. Apart from the silver cascade, the waterfall is a beautiful treat amidst the dense jungle, which also makes it an amazing spot to enjoy picnics. The waterfall is visible from the road. However, if time permits, one can also even trek to the waterfall ACTIVITY: Free Guided Spice Plantation Tour Take part in a guided spice plantation tour in Munnar with complimentary entry to the Spice Garden. Stroll through the plantation and gain insights into various spices, including cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon. Immerse yourself in the sights and scents of this aromatic adventure. Note: Car transfer is provided only with the full tour package. If your schedule doesn't allow time in Munnar, you can enjoy this activity in Thekkady instead. Athirappilly Excursion Feel refreshed amidst nature as you head out for an excursion to Athirappilly. Enjoy the scenic drive from Kochi to Munnar, taking in the lush greens. Stop at the majestic Athirappilly waterfalls en route, the highest waterfall in Kerala. Soak in the calm, dip your toes in the cool waters, and relax before you continue with your drive to Munnar. Note: The drive from Kochi to Munnar is 7 hours. You can only avail this activity during a road journey from Kochi to Munnar.

  • Day 3 Day Trip In Munnar

    Location 1: Tata Tea Museum On your holiday in Munnar, visit a one-of-a-kind tea museum - the Tata Tea Museum, which was set up to cater to tea aficionados and connoisseurs, as well as people who are curious to learn the process of tea-making. The museum preserves the tea legacy of the town, showcasing exquisite varieties of tea, photographs, mementos, and machinery used in the processing of these aromatic tea leaves. The museum remains closed on Monday and Good Friday. Tips: The museum is closed on Mondays Location 2: Eravikulam national park The first national park of Kerala and a UNESCO world heritage site, Eravikulam is home to an immense population of endangered mountain goat, Nilgiri Tahr and variety of flora and fauna. Further adding to its beauty is the highest peak in southern India, Anamudi. While exploring the park, you could spot Nilgiri langurs, leopards, tigers and Indian bison. Also, it is known for blooming wild balsams and orchids. The park remains closed for visitors every year, tentatively from Feb onwards to 31st March due to the calving season of Nilgiri Tahr Tips: Follow park rules diligently Location 3: Mattupetty Dam Flanked by steep hills and lush green tea plantations, Mattupetty Dam is known for its beautiful lake. View of the valley from the dam is breathtaking, which makes it quite famous amongst locals to enjoy a picnic. While here, travellers could choose to enjoy a picturesque cruise or stroll around and see elephants. The dam is located in the middle of lush green tea plantations and forests and is an ideal place for trekking Location 4: Echo Point One of the popular sightseeing places in Munnar is the Echo Point which is located at a distance of 15 kilometers away from Munnar. The point is known for its natural echo phenomenon which is what attracts tourists from all over. People can hear their name reverberating around the surroundings again and again as they shout out their name. Situated at an altitude of 600 ft. above sea level, it also offers a spectacular view of the enchanting valleys below and surroundings covered in a blanket of lush greenery. Tourists can take a stroll, soak in the misty landscape or take an exciting boat ride in a nearby lake.     Location 1: Periyar Lake A beautiful artificial lake amidst the lush Periyar Tiger Reserve, Periyar lake is a famous attraction that often witnesses the presence of Asian Elephant, Bengal Tiger, Indian Bison and Sambar Deer as they often come here to quench their thirst. The lake is known for offering an exciting boat safari and witness the magnificent wildlife of Kerala reveling in their natural habitat. In your quest for wildlife, you might even spy lovely creatures such as Malabar hornbills and flying squirrels. Also, the lake is home to several species of fish like Mahseer, the famous and endangered game fish of India Location 2: Kalari Show Kalaripayattu or Kalari, a fighting system is claimed to be one of the oldest forms of martial art in India. Legend has it that Lord Shiva taught this art to Lord Parasurama and then passed on the learning to his 21 disciples. The art demands a high degree control over mind and body.
