Housing the mortal remains of the royal clan of Kodava, Gaddige Raja’s Tomb is a magnificent travel attraction in Coorg. It is a palatial building that stands in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture with tombs in the center and turrets in all corners. It houses the key tombs of the King Doddaveerarajendra and his wife Mahadeviamma located in the center. The right tomb is the resting place of King Lingarajendra, whereas, the left tomb is dedicated to Rudrappa, the rajguru.
It Is Known For:-
1) Though the tombs are dedicated to the Islamic rulers, Gaddige Raja’s Tomb belongs to the Hindu royal clan.
2) It stands in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture with turrets in the corner.
3) Each turret has a Nandi figurine carved out of rock on the top.
4) The tomb also houses a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva because the ruler of the Kodava clan was a devoted Hindu.
5) There is a burial place of the loyal brave soldiers namely Biddanda Bopu and his son Biddanda Somaiah. They were martyred while battling Tipu Sultan.

Gaddige Raja’s Tomb is located in the serene and quiet surroundings. Thus, it is a place that catches the attention of the people on a huge scale. Many visitors, including the foreign nationals, can be spotted spending their leisure time at this site. Many schools also prefer Gaddige Raja’s Tomb for a picnic.
