4-Day Mikumi–Udzungwa Wilderness Adventure

Depart Dar es Salaam at 06:00 am aboard the SGR train, arriving in Morogoro at 07:40 am where you’ll be met by your professional 4x4 safari driver-guide. Journey towards Mikumi National Park, passing scenic countryside, rolling hills, and glimpses of rural Tanzanian life. On arrival, enjoy a morning and afternoon game drive across the vast Mkata floodplain, famous for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and abundant birdlife. After an early breakfast, depart for Udzungwa Mountains National Park, enjoying a scenic drive through lush countryside and charming villages. On arrival at the park gate, complete registration formalities before meeting your experienced guide. Begin your hike through the rich tropical forest, alive with birdsong, colorful butterflies, and rare plant species. Trek steadily upwards toward the breathtaking Sanje Waterfalls, one of the tallest in Tanzania. At the top, enjoy the cool mist and spectacular panoramic views overlooking the vast Kilombero Valley below. This unforgettable hike combines adventure, nature, and culture, offering a unique opportunity to experience the park’s remarkable biodiversity, spot endemic primates, and witness pristine rainforest landscapes. After an early breakfast, enjoy another scenic drive to Mikumi National Park for an authentic Maasai Boma visit. Here you’ll experience the rich culture and traditions of the Maasai people, including their vibrant dances, traditional attire, and insights into their way of life. Explore the surrounding landscapes where wildlife and nature blend with local culture, offering great photographic opportunities. After your visit, drive back toward Morogoro Town, arriving in time for your SGR train departing at 04:25 pm and arriving at 06:10 pm. Upon arrival, meet and greet your driver-guide, who will transfer you to the hotel of your choice for evening relaxation.
