Srinagar

Srinagar is the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated in the Kashmir Valley and lies on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus. The city is famous for its gardens, lakes and houseboats. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits.

Etymologically Srinagar is composed of two Sanskrit words,(venerable) and nagar, which means "city". One theory of the origin of the name is that a Pandava King Ashoka (not to be confused with the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka) built the city of Srinagar (Srinagar). Another theory is that Mauryan Emperor Ashoka founded the original city of Srinagar, then situated on the site of the present village of Pandrethan, 5 km to the north of the existing capital.

Srinagar is one of several places that has been called the "Venice of the East" or the "Kashmiri Venice". It is known for its lakes, which include Dal Lake - noted for its houseboats - and Nagin Lake.3.09% Government Service Tax.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

Srinagar

Pickup from Srinagar Airport. Check-in in hotel. Evening Shikara ride on Dal Lake. Overnight stay at Srinagar.
Day 2

Srinagar - Sightseeing

Shankaracharya Temple Dal Lake

After Breakfast visit the famous Mughal Gardens (Garden of Pleasure). Also visit Shankaracharya Temple located on a hillock and enjoy panoramic views of the entire city, along with the famous Dal Lake. On the way, visit the Handloom center famous for production of Pashmina/Shahtoosh shawls and carpets famous all over the world. Have a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3

Srinagar-gulmarg - Srinagar (52 Km/2.3 Hrs)

After Breakfast take a full day trip to Gulmarg. Gulmarg is located at an average elevation of 2,690 m (8,825 ft). Spend the day witnessing the picturesque locales like the Golf Course (Golf kit and caddy charges optional & extra). Also take the exhilarating cable car ride to Khilanmarg Snow Point (Gondola ride up to Khilanmarg is not included in the package and Gondola ride strongly depends on weather conditions.) Evening return to Srinagar for overnight stay.
Day 4

Departure

After breakfast check out from hotel and drop to Srinagar Airport.
