Trichy Government Museum was established in the year 1983 after the orders of the government of the state to have a museum in every district of Tamil Nadu. 1) The different galleries of Trichy Government Museum display various artifacts. It includes the ancient coins, megalithic structures, musical instruments, palm-leaf manuscripts etc.
2) In this museum, one can also witness the idols of the Hindu religious figurines that are carved with perfection. All sculptures/idols date back between 13th-18th century
3) It also displays the exhibits related to geology, history, zoology, anthropology etc.
4) The ancient currencies used during the Chola empire is also displayed here
