Hue – the last imperial capital of Vietnam offers much more than rich Vietnamese history and culture. This slow-paced, off-the-beaten-track biking tour shows a different side of Hue – free of tourist crowds, and adds a new dimension to this ancient city. Enjoy a day off in the ultimate tranquility of the countryside as you gently pedal along serene concrete paths, through vast rice paddies to nearby villages and Tam Giang Lagoon for an intimate insight into life in rural Hue. After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, saddle up and cycle along the sleepy riverside villages to Tam Giang. Our first stopover is Thuy Lap Handicraft Village, where the local artisans make tools and furniture from bamboo. This form of art used to be one of the most important crafts in Vietnam, but it is now losing its ground and standing on the verge of extinction. Hence, the local authority is putting a lot of effort into reviving this precious art form. Join local craftsmen to discover how bamboo baskets are made and even try your hands at making your own under their careful guidance. Leave the village and bring your own basket with you as it might come in handy for your upcoming exploration. Enjoy lunch en route. In the afternoon, you will arrive at Tam Giang Lagoon. Hop off your bike and embark on a relaxing boat ride to the lagoon for a hands-on fishing experience. Your host – a local fisherman will show you the ropes on cast netting and drift netting and especially, you will get to put what you’ve learnt into practice on the spot. Later on, you will go back to the host’s house and enjoy a delicious meal with freshly caught seafood – one of the highlights of our home visit tours. Drive back to your hotel in the late afternoon with fond memories of a special adventure.
