Your adventure begins with arrival in Guwahati and a transfer to Tezpur, setting the tone for the days ahead. From there, a scenic drive leads you to Dirang, where apple orchards, soothing hot springs, and centuries-old monasteries await. Crossing the dramatic Sela Pass, you make your way to Tawang, with stops at the Jaswantgarh War Memorial and the cascading Nuranang Falls. In Tawang, explore the magnificent 17th-century monastery, birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, and visit the vibrant craft center. The journey continues to Bomdila, where monastery visits and panoramic views highlight the experience, before heading to the lush Kaziranga National Park for an unforgettable elephant safari and jeep ride in search of rhinos and other wildlife. Next, drive to Shillong via the serene Umiam Lake, followed by a day in Cherrapunjee to discover stunning waterfalls and mysterious caves. Experience the surreal beauty of Dawki’s crystal-clear Umngot River and the living root bridges of Mawlynnong. Returning to Guwahati through Shillong, explore cultural treasures such as the Don Bosco Museum, Kalakshetra, and the sacred Kamakhya Temple, before closing your journey with a tranquil sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River. On Day 13, bid farewell as your Northeast odyssey comes to an end, carrying memories of a lifetime.

Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Guwahati Airport / Rly station – Tezpur

    Meet and greet upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, followed by a transfer to Tezpur. On reaching, check in at your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. Enjoy an overnight stay in Tezpur.

  • Day 2 : Tezpur – Dirang

    After an early breakfast, drive towards Dirang. En route, stop at the Tipi Orchidarium, located on the banks of the Bharali River, where over 500 species of orchids, including rare varieties, are showcased—Arunachal Pradesh being home to the largest orchid collection in the country. Continue your journey with a visit to the unique Nag Temple, and along the way, enjoy spectacular views and cascading waterfalls—so keep your camera ready. On arrival in Dirang, check in to your hotel. In the afternoon, explore the seasonal apple orchards and kiwi farms, visit the serene Dirang Monastery, and the Kalachakra Monastery. Dirang is also well-known for its natural hot water springs, believed to have healing properties for skin ailments. Overnight stay at Dirang.

    Note: All Indian tourists must obtain an Inner Line Permit (ILP) at Bhalukpong border before entering Arunachal Pradesh by submitting a valid photo identity card and two passport-sized photographs.

  • Day 3 : Dirang – Tawang

    After an early breakfast, proceed to Tawang—fondly known as the Land of the Hidden Paradise. En route, marvel at the breathtaking beauty of Sela Pass (13,700 ft), which forms the border between Tawang and West Kameng districts, and pause at the picturesque Sela Lake, frozen for most of the year. Continue your journey with a visit to Jaswantgarh War Memorial, built in honor of a brave soldier who single-handedly defended the pass during the 1962 Indo-China war. A short drive ahead brings you to the magnificent Nuranang Falls, made famous by scenes from the Bollywood film Koyla. On arrival in Tawang, check in at your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Tawang.

  • Day 4 : Tawang Local Sightseeing

    After breakfast, set out to explore the magnificent 17th-century Tawang Monastery, also known as Galden Namgyal Lhatse, perched at 10,000 ft and overlooking the vast Tawang Valley. This world-famous monastery is the largest in the Himalayan region and the second oldest in Asia, comprising 65 structures that house around 500 lamas. Inside, you’ll find ancient scriptures written in gold, sacred manuscripts, and an eight-meter-high gilded statue of Lord Buddha. Later, visit Urgeling Gompa, the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama—the only Indian to rise to such a revered position in the Gelugpa sect of Buddhism. The site features several stupas and is especially popular during the Buddhist New Year, when devotees gather to seek blessings. Continue to the Tawang War Memorial, a 40-foot stupa-like structure dedicated to the martyrs of the 1962 Sino-Indian war, with the names of 2,420 soldiers engraved in gold on black granite plaques. Conclude the day with a visit to Tawang’s Craft Center, where you can shop for exquisite handwoven carpets, masks, silver and coral jewelry, traditional ‘chubas,’ and other memorable souvenirs. Spend the evening at leisure before an overnight stay in Tawang.

  • Day 5 : Tawang – Bomdila

    After breakfast, set out for Bomdila, located at an altitude of 8,200 ft., the headquarters of West Kameng District in Arunachal Pradesh, well known for its serene Buddhist monasteries and refreshing cool climate. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and later visit the Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery (Upper Gonpa) and Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery (Lower Gonpa). Bomdila also offers breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic Himalayan landscapes and snow-capped mountain ranges. In the evening, take a stroll through the local market to explore the culture and handicrafts of the region. Enjoy an overnight stay at Bomdila.

  • Day 6 : Bomdila – Kaziranga

    After breakfast, proceed to Kaziranga, the land of the famous one-horned rhinoceros. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and take some time to relax. The evening is free for leisure, allowing you to unwind and enjoy the serene surroundings. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

  • Day 7 : Kaziranga National Park

    Early morning, enjoy an elephant safari in one of the zones of Kaziranga National Park, home to the famed one-horned rhinoceros. Along with rhinos, you may spot Hog Deer, Swamp Deer, Wild Buffalo, Elephants, and with some luck, even a tiger. The park also hosts rich birdlife including pelicans, storks, and darters around its numerous water bodies. Return to the resort for breakfast, followed by an afternoon jeep safari through the National Park. Later, visit the Kaziranga Orchid Park to explore its vibrant collection. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay at Kaziranga.

    Note: Elephant rides are regulated by the Forest Department, Government of Assam, and are subject to availability. Jeep safari is also subject to availability.

  • Day 8 : Kaziranga National Park – Shillong

    After breakfast, proceed to Shillong (4,900 ft.), famously known as the “Scotland of the East.” En route, visit the Maha Mrityunjay Temple in Nagaon and stop at Umium Lake (Barapani), a serene and picturesque lake surrounded by lush green hills. On arrival in Shillong, check in to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay at Shillong.

  • Day 9 : Excursion to Cherrapunjee

    After an early breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee (4,400 ft.), renowned as one of the wettest places on earth. Visit the breathtaking Nohkalikai Falls, one of the tallest plunge waterfalls in India, and explore the fascinating limestone formations of Mawsmai Caves. Later in the evening, return to Shillong, stopping en route to witness the scenic beauty of Elephant Falls. Overnight stay at Shillong.

  • Day 10 : Excursion to Dawki & Mawlynnong

    After an early breakfast, drive to Dawki, a charming town near the India-Bangladesh border, where you can admire the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Later, proceed to Mawlynnong, acclaimed as “Asia’s Cleanest Village,” known for its scenic beauty and unique attractions such as the living root bridge and the fascinating sight of a boulder perfectly balanced on a small rock. In the evening, return to Shillong for an overnight stay at your hotel.

  • Day 11 : Shillong Sightseeing – Guwahati

    Enjoy breakfast and set out to explore the Don Bosco Museum (closed on Sundays) and the charming Ward’s Lake. Later, continue your journey to Guwahati and check in at the hotel. In the evening, immerse yourself in Assamese heritage with a visit to Kalakshetra, where art, history, and culture come alive. Return to the hotel for a restful overnight stay in Guwahati.

  • Day 12 : Guwahati Local Sightseeing

    After breakfast, proceed to visit Kamakhya Temple (open from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM & 3:00 PM till dusk), Tirupati Balaji Temple, Navagraha Temple, Assam State Museum, State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, Regional Science Centre, and Sukreswar Temple, known as the 6th Jyotirlinga of Shiva. In the evening, enjoy an optional Golden Sunset Cruise on the Brahmaputra (direct payment). Overnight stay at Guwahati.

  • Day 13 : Hotel – Guwahati Airport / Rly Station

    After breakfast, transfer to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.
