Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Moshi – Umbwe camp.

  Depart Arusha for Moshi to Umbwe gate and commence the climb through a rain forest with packed lunch. Elevation 1660 m-2850 m, distance 11 km hiking time 5-6 hours, habitat Montane forest.

• Day 2 : Umbwe camp – Barranco camp.

  After breakfast walk through the forest ascending to open moorland to Barranco camp, elevation 2850 m – 4000 m, distance 6 km, hiking time 4-5 hours, habitat semi-desert.

• Day 3 : Barranco camp.

  Spend the extra day at Barranco camp for acclimatization so that it’s easy for you to ascend to the summit.

• Day 4 : Barranco – Karanga camp.

  After breakfast continue on a steep ridge up the Barranco Wall to the Karanga valley and junction to connect mwika trail.Elevation 4000 m – 4050 m, distance 5 km hiking time 3-4 hours, habitat Alpine desert.

• Day 5 : Karanga camp – Barafu camp.

  After breakfast proceed to Barafu camp whereby you will have completed the Southern circuit with the view of the summit from different angles here we make a rest enjoy dinner and prepare for the summit. distance 4 km, hiking time 3-4 hours, habitat Alpine desert.

• Day 6 : Barafu camp – Summit – Mweka camp.

  Early wake-up call around 2 am we try the attempt to the summit towards Stella point for a short rest on the crater Rim and may encounter snow all the way and a Sunrise, ascend to the summit Uhuru peak and you will have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro.
  
  From the summit, we begin to descend to Mweika camp stopping at Barafu camp for lunch and might need trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Elevation 4700 m -5896 m down to 3090 m, hiking time 5-7 km and 13 km, habitat stone and ice-capped summit.

• Day 7 : Mweka camp – Mweka gate – Moshi.

  After breakfast we continue with the descent to Mweika gate to receive your summit certificate, it might be wet and muddy gaiters and trekking poles will help. From the gate continue for an hour to Mweka village met and transferred to your Moshi hotel. Elevation 3090 m – 1660 m ,distance 10 km habitat Forest.
